The EX1000 are my First Love in high end IEMs, dating back to 2011/12. Might or might not compete with new generations (new technology) IEMs, but still love them for their transparency, bass, as well as, sound stage presentation.

ex1000 still a favorite of mine as well, have heard very little high budget stuff though.

You should hear the XBA-Z5.... I sold my EX-1000 if that says anything about the Z5 :)

The Z5 won't fit into my ears, they keep dropping off, whiles the EX1000 fits well.

Been long since I heard them but its down to whether you like cold analytical stuff I think whereas trend these days is the opposite.
There's nothing cold or analytical about my EX1000s out of my Sony NW-WM1A DAP. Maybe fairly neutral, with great bass.

I manage to give these a brief listen at Canjam and my immediate impression is how close they sound to the AKT8ie, which I've listened briefly to as well half a year ago. I believe both of them are roughly the same price too.

The Xelento comes with a normal cable and a cable with remote for smartphone.
