Beyerdynamic Xelento!

It is definitely true that bassy doesn't mean bad, and upon the same logic, a present treble cannot justify a device as prestige. But in the case of Xelento, its troubles come mostly from its lack of mids and a bass which comes with more quantity than quality.

The t8ie mk2 is more like an updated version of the xelento. It presented a rather more enjoyable sound with the same degree of comfort that xelento provides.

Besides, there is one thing that I found strange upon my several fast glimpses of the head-fi forum.

I've only registered and become active on the forum in the recent week. As I'm from China, where access to the head-fi forum is hard because of how things work.

Back in China, we also have our own audio forums. On those forums devices such as "KZ ZS10", which actually originates from China, are barely discussed. As Chinese people, we naturally have more inclinations towards Chinese firms and products, such as Hifiman, Lotoo, and Caiying (though I personally dislike Caiying). But small firms such as KZ are generally disregarded by the majority. However, it felt like that those Chinese products which were neglect in their home country, gained more popularity in Head-fi than in any Chinese forums.
That's interesting because I found a local distributor who is selling a lot of KZ cables. Around USD 30 for the 'best quality' Ag x Cu cables or Gold plated OCC copper LOL.

What kind of aftermarket cables do you use for your xelentos (if any)? My T8ie Mk ii cable sleeve has come off and the SPC is exposed, so I'm desperate to get something to fill it quickly.

Return it to the shop for a exchange.

Stuff happens, duds are a part of the manufacturing process, no reason to outright cross off an otherwise very highly regarded iem.
But then again, its your money.

Yes, I paid extra and purchased the Campfire Andromedas. They just feel a step up in quality and performance.

Can't go wrong with the andromeda.
That's a quality piece of equipment.

At that price and from such a big brand, I'd expect quality control steps to flush all duds out.

True. But if this was an isolated case, you know, things happen.
But you are right.
I am sure the company would have replaced the defective unit asap.
They have a pretty good 2 year warranty.
I just bought an RHA CL2, and it has a 3 year warranty, and the company is great with its customer service.
Campfire audio was really good with me returning the vega, so I can't say anything bad about them either.

I know Beyer has excellent overall customer support, so they should be fixing it for you quickly and for no added cost on your side though :)

Hi, I am very new to here and asking for help regarding my recent purchased Xelento Remote from Amazon US. It came with the condition with no seal outside the box, and the package was totally different from other Xelento Remote which is packed with a white box. I sensed the big difference of my Xelento and contacted Beyerdynamic directly. They quite not sure what was going on in my case and told me it should come with a white paper cover. Although Amazon offered me a partial refund because of open-box Xelento, I am still worried about the unusual Xelento. Are they real Xelento earbuds? Does anyone like me having your Xelento in the black design cover (See attached pictures)? Besides the difference of the cover, all the layout, and presentation inside the box are great. Earphones are crafted detailly with ser-no. match the cover box. Even the typo "fir" on the paper to tie the cables are same as others. So I doubt this item. If I am the only case, I will consider to return it even though the item was from the authorized dealer.

What's inside the box looks legitimate (or an extremely good copy - but I've never yet seen or heard of fake Xelentos). I've not seen that packaging before though, and it's a bit strange Beyerdynamic hasn't either. Was the seller Amazon or a third party?
P.S. Looks like your headphones might have originated from outside the US and maybe the Beyer rep wasn't familiar with the various types of international packaging used:
