Beyerdynamic Xelento!

Okay, I'm talking about the AK T8ie mkII rather than the Xelento, however - more people in this thread...

I'm used to slow burner products, things that grow on you, these hit me with a sledgehammer of happiness - only having had mine for 24hrs, has anyone had a honeymoon period that has worn off, or does the romance keep on flourishing?

My opinion of the Xelento hasn’t changed in almost a year of near-constant use. These things are damn good. I just wish Beyerdynamic had better support — I want replacement foamies and filters!

Foamies, are you referring to the buds, the supplied oval buds are sold at approximate USD 10.5 for one pair.

They are original Comply tips (500 series). Just go to the Comply Homepage, select Brand and Model of the headphones and they show you compatible tips.

Curiosity did some rough things to the cat, but...

is the Xelento price of US 999 stable or has it come down some, similar to AK T8ie which is now 799?

thanks.

per camelcamelcamel, lowest price point has been $830. i was able to get mine for $899 from amazon.

Guys
just arrived this nice IEM.
Want to make me do a custom cable to use them as balanced too and I'm wondering if the 3,5mm 4 pin I'm seeing in the stock cable is a real 4pin or the 4th is unuseful...This information could be useful to do a better custom cable...
thanks.

You can reterminate the other cable that also come stock.

Thank u mate
I'll leave both 2 stock cables as they are.
I'll ask to my friend to prepare a complete custom cable. From your answer I understand the 4th pin, from an audio perspective, does not add anything since it is used only for the remote.

Let me give you a suggestion, look for the Final audio Lab II cable, but you need to reterminate it, it's probably the best looking cable for the Xelento, many other cables don't look so good with the Xelento.

The Lab II cables is available in 3.5mm unbalanced and 2.5mm balanced. Minw is the 3.5 reterminated with a L Pentaconn plug.

Unsure if I'm being a bit odd here, however - floating around the sources that I have, I'm finding the iPhone (X, so - dongle) to have the best synergy, with exception to my aged AK120 Titan - As before, I'm talking about the T8ie mkII, however - I suppose my musing is, am I right - that the iPhone, with the ridiculously easy driving of these, is actually pretty good, or - do I need to have a bit of a listening detox?

iphones are known for having a very transparent but not outstanding headphone output with low impedance. Since these are easy to drive, I would not bother with an external DAC unless you are ready to step in Mojo / ISD Micro BL territory.

Indeed, very true...

I have to say that today has been a day of revelations - plugged in my Vorzuge Pure II+ amp - hit go, and my oh my, what a beautiful (hate that word, but - it fits so well) little combination that is!
