Beyerdynamic Xelento!

I use the Beyerdynamic Xelento cable. I don’t find any problems with it.
The original cable sucks. It veils it. Try a higher quality one and youll quickly see that spending the extra few hundred bucks is more than worth it.

Ive revived my OG Xelentos with these tips: https://www.thomann.de/de/sennheiser_ie_40_pro_l.htm
The foams in these tips tame down two peaks at 5k and 8k to a very smooth levels. The bass kicks even harder and the stage improves and the islolation is way better than with stock tips.
I now like them slightly more than the ie600. They sound practically perfect in frequency response.

Recently got these iem after trying out dozens. Absolutely enjoy them and also find them very comfortable. Sadly though, Xelento are discontinued and no successor will be released for the time being. Anyone heard of any other releases planned by Beyer?
Xelento 2 has been released for a few years now and is currently produced and sold by Beyerdynamic and its reps. It's a great IEM.

I think its still sold but got a reply from the company that its discontinued. If you check on the German website, its not available for sale anymore and says ‘last chance’.

Just to clarify, I bought the Xelento 2 as well

They prefer to discontinue as fakes start to come around. Probably a new Xelento by the end of the year or in 2025.

Hopefully 🙏 just want a revamped raw1st gen style sound with more forward mids/vocals, cleaner textured bass, and more top end enchantment. mommy that's all I want under 🎄 tree....

The 2nd is more smoothed out matured and brings out some more minor details but personally less edgy fun. If your into hip hop vocal deep house that type of thing 1st gen is the way to go no doubt in my book. Classical or jazz or more chilled out I guess 2nd version good for those folks. Also be sure to upgrade your cable from the stock this iems gains a lot from a high quality cable.

Thanks for sharing. Sounds like I got the correct version for my usual tastes :) tempting to get a version 1 though as an alternative

Though I’m hoping they release a more budget friendly model again!

I had the first gen., sold it and then bought the 2nd gen. last year to try and replicate the 1st gen.'s magic... but it wasn't there. And it's super hard to get a 1st gen. one now, since fakes are everywhere.

Fingers crossed for you!

I see that you’ve owned both the version 1 and 2. What would you say are the differences between both?
I still have X OG (10000% original as i bought them directly from Beyerdynamic) and have had the 2nd gen 2 times and 2 times they went back.
I would say that the 2nd is more refined and even smoother but its just too smoothed out and lacks energy and proper bite. It also have too much mid bass bloat and its hard sometimes to clearly hear vocalists and instruments as everything swims in this syrupy sound.
The OG version is more incisive and clear, can be even slightly too analytical for some. But i rather take this version and change tips to these: https://www.thomann.de/de/sennheiser_ie_40_pro_l.htm
They calm down these slight 5k and 8k treble peaks and everything sounds definitely more correct and smooth. You cant extract more energy from the 2nd version, no matter what you do.
So overall i think that the 1st version is more correct sounding and more versatile.
As an alternative i also recommend trying Ziigaat Doscinco. They are like a blend of two Xelento versions. They are smoother and more neutral sounding than the OG but more lively than the 2nd. These are bass heads dream, with an amazing deep, punchy but very clean and detailed bass and the rest is perfectly neutral- no strange peaks, very correct pinna gain but absolutely ZERO shoutiness. They dont even show peak at 8k which is very common in iems.

Probably an unpopular opinion but I substantially prefer the 2nd generation to the 1st generation when using the included wireless neckband, with enhancement mode turned on, and with personalized sound maxed out at the "recommended" setting. To my ear it brings a bit more midrange and a lot of additional treble emphasis, which makes things sound absolutely delightful given the Xelento's healthy sub bass extension. With all of that turned off, it's a less impressive IEM.

Both the wired and wireless 2nd generation versions are discounted on the US Beyer site, too. I wonder what they'll do with a replacement, if they are to make one.
