I actually think the clear Gels look quite cool, black ones look ugly though.

It is definitely stronger. I played some bass test tracks through my setup and I could feel the cans moving on my head!

I cannot say for sure if they will fit, but these pads attach at the same place and are shaped very similar in size/shape to the velour pads.

Those clear gel pads actually look really nice I think... also I vote Bigfieroman as having the best (not necessarily the hottest) avatar on head-fi!

hey bigfireoman, shoot me a pm if you want to trade a pair of leather pads with the gel for awhile.
