Which pair of cans should I get?! I listen to alot of dubstep, hip-hop, rap, rock, prog metal, country, techno, trance.. Almost everything, Which pair of cans would be better for this type of listening, I just recently sold my SR80s and am now looking for something with more bass, which of these 2 should I purchase, Thanks!

Sound leaking isnt even a problem, my grados leaked sound like crazy, I watch alot of movies also.. Are there any other cans I should check out aside from the DT990's that would be good for movies and nearly every genre of music

You may want to check out the AKG K701s. With the right amp they are supposed to be amazing, I don't know if they are amazing for EVERY genre, but great headphones none the less.

Monster Beats are supposed to be amazing.  Should he get those?

Anyways, both of those beyerdynamics sound different.  The dt990's might be better for movies because of their bigger soundstage.  Me personally, I always prefer open headphones because of soundstaging, and since you aren't worried about sound leakage or isolation I would get the dt990's.

I've tried to beats by dre, Overrated pair of headphones to say the least, maybe it was just best buys setup, Idk..

But yeah I am leaning toward the dt990s

I don't have an amp but I do have a receiver with a 1/4th jack in the front, that seemed to power the Grado SR80s good.. and Im sure it can power the 250 ohm version of the DT990s good enough.

Overrated? I thought they were considered a general joke around here :)

Unless you want to go LCD-2, which might need a new amp and are very expensive, the DT990 sounds like a good choice. The Sennheiser HD 650 might be good too, worth trying out at least.

You have a broad range of music you'd listen to with those cans

I have DT770's which I don't put on my head for rock/prog.rock, they just don't do that very well on my opinion, Grado does that a lot better.

Country's nice with the Beyers though.

classic topic Zombie, fantastic guide on Beyer cans

Actually I'd be very curious; Zombie, which Beyer can would you prefer with (multi layered) prog? (no Grado, no 701, a Beyer or Senn) and apart from the T1, which is a lot more expensive

The DT880 and DT990 do layering equally. I prefer the DT880 over the DT990, but I kept the DT990 since I find it redundant to have both the DT880 and the T1 at the same time.

Listening to what Brad has now and I must say the songs are mastered with lightly elevated treble. I would suggest the DT880 in this case, or the DT770/80Ohm Pro. The 80Ohm DT770 will be heavy in the bass, but has the smoothest/rolled/muted (depends on how you look at it) treble in the DT770 line up next to the 600Ohm DT770.
