im looking for upgrading my headphones purely for gaming (for music i use my Sennheiser HD6xx atm)
i run them on a Schiit magni 2 uber/ modi 2 uber stack
can anyone here recommend me which ones should i get and if its worth an upgrade

If you can get a Sennheiser HD700 that's probably your best bet.
(Very good soundstage with precise imaging, detailed/present treble and very comfortable design)
Overall flatter than DT990, but preserving a similar tuning.

More comfortable, more analytical, better soundstage capabilities, more fancy looking.

He400i/He500 are more along the lines of HD6xx in the big scheme of things, but they have flatter and more layered bass.

You can pick the AKG K712 then (big layered soundstage and precise imaging)
AKG K702 if you prefer lighter tonality (even bigger soundstage at the expense of some focus)

arent the AKG K712 a downgrade compared to the DT990s i have now?
No, with K712 you get a more neutral response with flatter and clearer bass, more layered 3D soundstage and more neutral yet still very detailed treble.

hmm i dont feel like the AKG K712 are massive upgrade
is there something between the AKG and the HD700?

K712 and HD700 are pretty much on the same level technically speaking.

K712 could be considered just a tad more balanced in terms of tonal balance while HD700 is somewhat drier and more analytical.
HD700 has a slight edge for gaming in my experience (I've owned both and DT990 too)

Maybe you can find a Tesla T90. That should work too.

DT990 is a nice headphone, whether you'll find a "massive" upgrade or not is very subjective.
You'll find headphones that are technically superior here and there, more layered 3D stage, less mid-bassy, cleaner bass, flatter but still very detailed treble, you know...
