Beyerdynamic DT1350 - A Cursory Review

Perhaps they are targeting different market sectors.  It seems the t50p is directed at the upscale B&W p5/apple users while the dt1350 appears to be a direct shot at the HD25 1-11 D.J crowd.  I believe there is room for both of the t50p and dt1350 in the lineup.

Well, I had a pair ordered, used the house debit card instead of the triple secret headphone card, and cancelled it. I'll go ahead and order them tonight to compare to the hd25-1 ii's. Jude seems to like the dt1350's better, but I think his overall preferred signature differs a bit from mine, just from the posts of his of read. It should be fun. I suspect I'll want to keep both, but I think that cypher labs solo plus ALO rx mkii rig is screaming my name, and the looser may have to go. I have a bad case of FOTM Fever!

The t50p is far from a failed product, and the DT1350 is even further from an "obvious" upgrade to the t50p. I am one of the very few people in the world who think the t50p is the far superior headphone to the DT1350.  I think too many people got swayed by the HD25-ii vs DT1350p review on the front page. the DT1350 sounds too dry and the sound is too bulky and lacking in finesse. The T50p in comparison has a beautifully smooth, graceful and airy sound. Almost ethereal in nature. DT1350 in comparison feels unsophisticated and unrefined.
 
On HeadFi we like to say, "SQ is the most important" so I fail to see why the DT1350 "looking" like the T50p is meant to cannibalize it in any way. If that were true, the SR60 would be cannibalizing the SR325.

Have had my DT1350 for 2 weeks now with some 50 hours burn-in and I have to admit it is a much more balanced headphone than ES10s or ESW10s. For now it seems to be what I have been looking for.

Just touching base back on this thread.  I moved the HD25's along, and have kept the DT1350's.  For my listening style, I prefer them.  My HD25's went to a coworker who loves them, and was less than impressed with my DT1350's.  Oh, and the Cypher Labs solo is no longer calling my name at the moment, it just seems too bulky for my needs.

Agreed about the CLAS. I was seriously thinking abut getting one too (if I ever have the funds) but these days even my diyMod is getting to be a bit too bulky (although I love it). Glad to hear you're enjoying the DT1350; I hope to get my hands on a pair one of these days.

I´m looking at getting closed cans, initially looking at Shure 840 and Denon HP700 but moving towards a more portable solution and like what I´ve read about the DT 1350, I was looking at the V-Moda M80 but slowly leaning towards the DT 1350s.
 
How does the bass compare to the MS-1s? I like the bass on the MS-1, tight and controlled, would´t mind a little more but not less.
