Got the opportunity to try briefly these today. Unfortunately I can´t get a proper seal without pressing on the ear cups. The clamping force is too top heavy as opposed to the bottom of the ear cup where it always leaves a small gap for some odd reason. I have a fairly small head though, should be fine for most. Haven´t seen anyone else complain of this here. No such issue for me with the DT 770 Pro though. Too bad, I was quite interested in these (+ DT 1990). Maybe the Amiron clamp design works better for me...

How are the mids on these? I recently bought a pair of dt 770 pro's (250 ohm)and the mids are to withdraw for my taste.

The Amiron is exactly the same basic design different pads and a lot kess clamping force.Got the opportunity to try briefly these today. My DT1770 are up for sale atm. It's a comfort thing in the end; the headband presses too much on 1 point on my head

The sound and overall quality is super, these are the first beyerdynamic headphones that don't suit me unfortunately.

How are the mids? Are they laid back like the 770 pros?My DT1770 are up for sale atm. It's a comfort thing in the end; the headband presses too much on 1 point on my head

How is the dt 1770 sound isolation compared to the dt 770 pro ? Looking to upgrade.

The sound isolation of the 1770's is exactly the same as the 770's. Closed backed. Both are excellent with respect to sound isolation. How are the mids? Are they laid back like the 770 pros?

Yes, the mids are very similar to the 770's. The 1770's are just a much more refined listen, with improved clarity. The sound signatures of the two are very similar, but the 1770's are much more refined. How are the mids? Are they laid back like the 770 pros?
ok thanks, i have been using the 770 pro in a pretty noisy work environment. i can hear more background noise than i want to. thanks for the info.

The 1770's are probably not going to be much/any better in that respect. Maybe if you use the 'pleather' pads with them? But probably only a marginal improvement in isolation at best.ok thanks, i have been using the 770 pro in a pretty noisy work environment. i can hear more background noise than i want to. thanks for the info.
ive heard only a 5 percent increase in isolation with the leather pads. outside noise is probably coming from the actual plastic cups.

You may want to try the GMP 8.35d if you want more isolation than the DT770/DT1770 and similar "German" sound sigature. The 8.35d provides the best isolation among all of my closed back headphones.
In general V shape FR headphones are more suitable for quiet environment/low volume listening, while heaphones with flatter FR are more suitable for noisy environment/louder volume listening.

Guys - I just have to add a short note to this thread as I got my 1770s today.......and I'm blown away by them!!!!
Maybe some words where this is coming from: I had the chance to listen a bit to the 1770s at a headphone show here in where Beyer was present - both times I was deeply impressed with them both soundwise and from the whole look and feel. And while I really liked them I hesitated to spend the money. The idea was to get them for work to replace my AKG K550s (Mark I) running out of a FiiO E17 Mark I......well, after reading about half of the thread here and having some Amazon gift vouchers burning a hole in my pocket I finally caved and ordered them.....got them delivered today and they are such a huge step up from the K550s, pure joy listening to them and I know I will not regret spending the money.
Just wanted to share my joy

That's awesome Tony-S! I feel the same way about my DT1770's. With my Valhalla 2 and a pair of JW 2C51 WE 396A's, they are my end game for now. . .

I also love the sound of the dt1770.Im now might selling my focal elears. They are good, but can be an little fatigueing after an while.I like the warm sound of the dt1770.And the bass.I feel the beyers are very fun an musical/relaxing to listen to.The elears are more in your face all the time, and not relaxing to listen to.
