Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions

If only T5p.2 has more bass and less energy on the high, it would be perfect.

Yup, I ab the 1770 and t5p.2 at canjam, walked away with the 1770. The T5p.2 had the typical beyer sound, thin and trebly

My impression is far from that. The old T5p -- yes. The new one: definitely neither thin nor overly treble-happy. Yes, the DT1770 is warmer, but the new T5p is nothing like the original model. Except the looks...

If I find the time I will take some pics later, I just came home from work. It's around 7 pm here.

Here you go. Do this on both ends and then you can shift the cushion to center it.

so it doesnt just break out into a million pieces after removing the two screws, thats wonderful news. I will be able to handle that in a few minutes time then.

Thanks @pietcux for taking the photos. Opening that part is no problem and easier than sending them back for sure. If the headband itself is defective it another thing of course... but I suspect it just slipped out.

took a few minutes but my headphones will no longer be of issue and got in early enough to work to get a few moments to relax with them before I have to dive into my workload.

I knew you could make it!

I saw somewhere in this thread (can't find the post) that the EDT 600 SS pads were recommended as possible replacements. I found out that they don't work. They're too small to fit around the lip. They aren't too much different from stock either. They have a very slightly different feel and are a little firmer though. I don't want someone to make the same mistake I did.

Thanks for the warning. Beyer offers so many pads themselves. All pads for DT770,880,990,T70,T90,T70p,T1 and T5p will fit.

Does anyone know where I can order that new case for the T5P? Hoping the 1770s fit in it.

I have no idea but report back if you find it fits or does not fit.

Don't know, haven't even seen the case...

But this one has been mentioned previously, and the one I want (is this the one you referring to?):

Why, because of the different cable routing?

No, the headband seems to be a bit thicker and the case is too shallow there. The gimbals seem to collide a bit as well. I can try to tak a photo tomorrow.

I have one of those as well but did not try it with the DT1770 so far. Good to hear they fit in.
