Beyerdynamic Amiron Wireless

From the sounds of it, it looks like wired will stay superior. BT is asking for trouble some day.
So the best thing is to keep the AWC or get another pair if they are returned and stick to BT adapter and or wired if BT is not needed.
When Netflix had to reduce their capacity, I noticed the sound was lagging behind, like 0.5 seconds when I used the AWC wireless.

I tried the XM3 and holy crap, the bass is muddy, not fun at all and everything sounded congested. It sounded like poop hitting the wall.
From the reviews on the XM4, it's not any better and you'd be wasting money on it.
Totally agree on the XM3, it wasn't being used for "audiofile" service but potentially for work use. Datacenters get loud and I need something that will work that I can control / provide and will be there when I need it. Rather than worry about a shared resource being available. When I get called in to solve problems there's already a mob of hot bodies there acting as hat racks for all of the protective headphones.

The XM3 was a particular stand out in BT headphones as far as audio fidelity disappointment though; perhaps I was just a bit too happy to drop the XM3 when the ANC failed me.

I dropped the AWC off at UPS to send back to Amazon yesterday, along with the Avantree DG60. Gonna miss the AWC, not so much the DG60.

Netflix so far glitches playback for me occasionally - due to quarantine level load demands, but no audio lag issues for wired or wireless, now that I think about it it's been a long time since I've experienced audio lag.

So, what about the Amiron Home? Should I get that or "save up" my intent and steel myself to make that $1k jump to the T1.3 or T5.3?

Lol at the mob of hot bodies acting as hat racks. ANC/BT will malfunction some day.

There was no audio lag issue, I meant the audio not syncing properly. And maybe it's been like that since day one? But when I connected it to my PSVita, there were no desync or any other issue. I guess it depends on devices aswell.

Amiron Home sounds very different to the AWC. The A.Home doesn't block noise. Wether T1.3 or T5.3, that's gonna be a very tough one as I'm in the same boat.
But having already the T5p.2, there might be no reason for me to go for either one of them. It depends on what you want and need.
I like my Amiron Home because it's also very nice to use it for Netflix because of the cinematic audio.

That's what I meant by "audio lag", the audio lags the video - desync's in other words. I'd not seen it for a long time until recently on the FiiO M15 in Youtube... good 'old Android 7 - and that "visual effect" went away after watching on the M15 for a while. It's probably still visible to someone coming in cold after living with current video playback. On the M15 it was only technically visible not audible - I could tell there was a "disconnect" and could see it, but it's not audibly lagging - funny how the brain works, right?

The Amiron Wireless was always spot on - no visible or audible anomolies for me. I was describing the Netflix "hiccup" that I get sometimes in all streaming video these days at times. I have 1Gbit down and 50mbit up and most of the time there's no problem, that's why when there is a general "slowdown" in response I can tell - sometimes I can swap DNS lookup destinations and that helps, but most of the time it's just upstream overload.

I'll probably try the Amiron Home first, I'll look for a good sale price around the Holiday, only a month or so off now. :)

So what's the verdict. I recently purchased Anandas but your pic has me intrigued.
Hi, verdict? :) I've booth now, each has its pros and cons. Amiron: better battery life 25h to 7h, better isolation, i think better dynamics a bit, Anandas seems to be underpowered at higher volume levels and are clipping a bit and loosing resolution, Amirons are fine at max volume. Ananda: better soundstage depth (width is the same), better layering and separation and of course better openness. Amirons are easier to listen to, not fatiguing me. Anandas are more attention grabbing and mids are too sharp on some songs. This are my personal observations using Tidal Master on BT with forced LDAC 24/96, 990kB/s preset respectively AptXHD with Amirons. Comfort is good on booth when using Amirons with V770 earpads, original earpads are to hard for may taste and lacking (seal) bass on my head shape.

Overall I'm enjoying Anandas a lot now, I'm always listening on 65-70% max volume so Anandas sounds great!

EDIT. One more thing, Amirons have Aptx LL codec, so watching movies is here no problem with BT.

What was the firmware revision on your Amirons? Newer 2.x firmware is buggy and BD stopped seeding it for some reason after few days....

Beyerdynamic uses their "Update Hub" software that acts as the go between between their servers and the headphones, so I don't have a "firmware" update file to check for you - whatever the current firmware for the Amiron Wireless was on Sept 3rd would have been what was installed. I'd already uninstalled the Beyer Update Hub software so there wasn't anything to check for a download.

But, that sounds possible - the updated firmware screwed up the connectivity - hopefully my next one will have a 1.x version and I won't update. Hmm, thinking back I thought there was quite a gap between what version it came with vs what the update hub installed - sorry I can't recall the version but it could have been a 1.x vs 2.x gap.

BTW, that DT990 600 ohm Chrome Edition I posted as having ordered came in, it's pristine - I won't even need to replace the pads or headphone band. And, it's sound is amazing out of the box - everything made by Beyerdynamic I have listened to sounds great! So far Beyerdynamic are batting 1.000 as far as sound!

Has anyone gone through the process of upgrading their fixed wired BD DT series to balanced? Wondering if I should go for single connector multiple poles or dual connector, any suggestions on how much it should cost or where I can get it done for a reasonable price? I'd like to upgrade my DT770 DT880x2 DT990 to balanced, so price is gonna need to be reasonable to consider upgrading all 4.

If I can remember 2.x firmware has some August date, but available was later for sure. My MIY app advertised it to me 2 weeks ago, I was unable to upgrade with update hub a and BD support after some classic support emails like reset, uninstall and so on :) had acknowledged me, there is some problem with FW and FW seeding was paused and I should try to upgrade next week, till than should be all OK.

It seems the BT is usually having issues, not just with the AWC. I see wireless headphones having problems on LTT and Sony XM3/4 are one of them.
So if it would happen to my AWC, I wouldn't return it, not even for repair. And wired will always stay superior! :D
But it sucks though when needing BT for easier listening.

I'll be looking forward to your reviews on the 600ohm with BTR3K/BTR5. I wanted one of these but I would maybe be wasting money on something I don't probably need.
What I effing hate about what Sony did to PSVita is the position of the 3.5mm audiojack, such effing inconvenience! All I want is to place the PSVita on a flat surface but that 3.5mm position...........

These covers work very well for me with stock pads in terms of improved seal.

Still looking forward to trying the 777 EDV velour pads one day.

I'm sorry if this has been brought up before but has anyone managed to increase clamping on these? I don't have time to read the whole thread. I'm surprised how good these are. Normally I don't care much off beyerdynamic. Seal is decent for me but I'd still prefer more clamp. I don't want these to fall of while emptying dishwasher for example.

For me changing to the Dekoni Elite Sheepskin pads gave it a little more clamping force, as well as a better seal.

Thanks, but I'm hoping to find a solution that does not require changing pads. It seems that the headband does not keep it's form if bent inwards. I started experementing with a headband piece from old peltor earmuffs. It does work but I need to find something that does not clamp that hard and is tall enough to reach all the way over the plastic parts. Also I have no idea how to attach it without using glue, tape or other things that could damage the original headband. I wish the padding could be opened like with old beyers.
