Given that their compatriots from Sennheiser went back to high impedance drivers (from 150Ohm in HD660S to 300Ohm in HD660S2) maybe they will take a hint that hi-end crowd crave this direction.
They have Pro crowd very happy with their mic refreshes, DT900X and DT700X, now it’s time to please audiophiles
Hopefully they will, I ended up getting the HD 660S2, quite happy with Senns newest release.
I actually liked the Gen 3 more than the Gen 2, but always felt they should’ve been at least 250 Ohm. Though a return to a more traditional tuning would appeal to more audiophiles as well.
Whats funny is Beyer actually is one of the first people on the market with detachable cables, the DT 100 came out in the 1960's and it has a detachable cable. Not sure if they will ever release the DT 880, 990, etc. with replaceable cables or balanced, don't think they will sadly.*** Only headphones they have that can be balanced stock is basically the Amiron Home, T1, and T5.
First limited edition headphone announced from Beyer for this year. Will see if there are more.
It’s the DT 770 Pro X Limited Edition. It’s a mixture of the DT 770 and the DT 700 Pro X. It uses the Stellar.45 drivers like the 700/900 Pro X so it’s 48 Ohm. Has a notch in the headband for comfort, removable xlr cable. Supposed to be tuned more akin to the DT 770 Pro than the DT 700 Pro X. Made in Germany.
Price is $199.00.
I may order a pair when they release, as they seem to fit a niche I’ve been looking for.

I’m curious too, not familiar with the DT 770 personally as I never owned one. The different driver should change how the treble is presented. Will be interesting how the Stellar.45 driver sounds in a different housing with a different tuning.
