Hi,

I'm going to buy Beyer Dynamics DT880 PRO (250 ohm) for monitoring. I have a DIGI002 with the headphone outputs: +15 dBu, 150 ohm load. So my question is if this if actually enough power to drive them. It heard that they require alot of power to get a good sound out of them.

Thanks for your help.

Dennis.

I'm not sure what those specs mean, but I'm sure that a solid piece of professional gear will have no trouble driving any pair of 250 ohm pro cans.

dBu
dB(0.775 VRMS) – voltage relative to 0.775 volts.[1] Originally dBv, it was changed to dBu to avoid confusion with dBV.[11] The "v" comes from "volt", while "u" comes from "unloaded". dBu can be used regardless of impedance, but is derived from a 600 Ω load dissipating 0 dBm (1 mW).     let's see....  carry the one, divide by the square root of 2... and...   i have no clue what any of this means. but hey, the dt880 pro is one killer set of cans.

I ordered the DT880 PRO 250 Ohms out of curiosity. What's all the noise about the Beyer Dynamic?

They tend to be on the bright side.  It's not supposed to be as bad on the 880s as on the 990s, but the 990s have insane highs, treble and sibilance.  They often sound like the noise tin foil makes when you crush it in your hands.  The 880s are supposed to be their more balanced and analytical can compared to the 990s.  The Pro versions are designed with a tight clamping force, too tight for my blood.  My old DT770 pro felt like it was squashing my head.

The 880 is a truly great sounding pair of headphones, and the pro version should be similar.  Enjoy them!

How do them compare to the Sony V6 in term of " extended high".
