The boot looping issue does kind of freak me out. They were never sold in Canada so they have no history here. They are a weird company. No V10 for Canada. V20 only available in certain parts of Canada no availability in Europe.

But $279.00 for a GREAT audio phone seems like it might be a really good deal. I sent the shop an email and asked about warranty in Canada for bootlooping issues.

Yes with this price + 1 year warranty included is such a happy meal.

I just met this guy in class who had the Xplay 5, i didnt test it since i didnt have my headphones but he said the phone worked perfectly with Fido in 4G in Vancouver Canada. I bet other Vivo phones work here as well.

Numbers are just numbers. It can tell only theoritically how low noise it is or how much dynamic range it has. But they are not telling sound signature. The wideness of soundstage or how sweet is vocal etc.

Better trust your ears than these numbers. Btw mi5 sound is not great as you think ;)

Try stick with phone with ess dac. LG V20 is the greatest sound for now (if high gain is activated)

wow, thanks for the advice

so in your opinion (v20 is not available in Spain), which other would you buy?

Htc 10 is a good choice? I hate Meizu and Vivo and others like these (exception for Xiaomi, for me best chinese brand)

or maybe I should wait for lg v20s?

thanks in advance

Does someone know ahyhing related with Redmi 3S and 4 Prime?
I've seen measurements on GSM Arena that points they are good.

Was wondering if anyione had the chance to try them out, maybe they are on par with Redmi Note 3 Pro

I bought a Redmi 3s (Snapdragon 430) for my dad and I do own Redmi Note 3 Pro and Mi Note as well.
Listened to Redmi 3s, I find it not as good as Redmi Note 3 Pro. Its dynamic range is not as good as Redmi Note 3 Pro hence music out of it just sounds very flat. I feel that Redmi Note 3 Pro sounds not bad considering its price. However, Redmi Note 3 Pro just can't beat the Mi Note which can produce good depth and detailed high. Redmi Note 3 Pro sounds more artificial or EQed .

Is V10 available there? It is also good alternative to v20.

if xiaomi is another choice. I recommend mi note pro but its con is having no micro sd with only 64 gb internal.

HTC10 is not a good choice. (Too much mid bass and bassy for my taste) I think zte axon 7 is better choice.

Letv Max (x900) or Letv pro (x800) are also another options for you to consider.

Cheers

HTC 10 is a very good choice...:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:. But OK it is a little bit darker and bassier than V10. For my ears is not that much and not a big deal. For sound quality alone both are very good. For general smartphone spec the V10 is starting to get dated.

I don't think we will ever see the V20 in Europe.

hi all!!

i'm initiating in this amazing world so I have many doubts yet :S

easy question:

For better listeting with my momentum 2.0, should I change to htc 10 or any other? I have a oneplus 3 now.

thanks in advance

The HTC 10 is both louder and clearer but your headphones aren't hard to drive plus they are closed back, the OnePlus 3 has the same specs pretty much and personally I think has the better camera......tough.....seeing as though it's end of year and another HTC is a few months away and could be better...if you have the itch and want to keep the OnePlus 3 you buy a USB DAC from fio etc provided it works with the OnePlus or a LeTv x800 or x900 starting at $150 and $193 respectively on AliExpress, a refurbished v10 (with warranty.... seriously...with warranty) starting at $220 on eBay, they are a couple Xiaomi and Meizu phones but honestly I'm not familiar with them and I get confused sometimes lol but if you get the HTC 10 you wouldn't be disappointed it blasts headphones with boomsound on....though boomsound colors the sound but then you can also tweak the custom settings which is just an Eq and Dolby, I'm chilling with my x800 for now till I get the itch again....I still might snatch a x900 before they disappear.

Just a quick heads up to anyone thinking about purchasing an LG v10 or LeTv X800 or X900, please don't get a v10 without warranty because the device has a bootlooping issue which a tech told me a piece of the motherboard melts because of the heat from the SD808 chip, poor design from LG it seems, the LeTv phones you see available on AliExpress sometimes come with a rooted custom ROM which does not get updates from LeEco installed by the seller to support more languages etc out of the box (read the description of the item thoroughly) but in most cases you can request that the seller leave the phone stock and during the updates I believe they added more languages in the official Marshmallow ROMs...it's not like you can't return the rooted firmware to stock pretty easily but just so you guys know what you are buying.

I got my Axon 7 yesterday. Listening to it right now with Neutron, I can say it sounds good but not great.

However, from having owned the original Axon mini before, I think a lot can be done to tweak the sound into greatness.

After rooting my Axon Mini (which I unfortunately bricked), I was able to tweak the registers. Stock, everything was downsampled to 16bit/44.1 hz and volume was quite low. There was also a default filter that I didn't like which could be edited out. After a lot of experimenting I could get a louder and very clean sound with amazing imaging.

The Axon 7 is still problematic to root (I haven't succeeded yet) but rumour has it that ZTE is cooperating with the CyanogenMod team to make an official, ZTE authorized CM release for the Axon 7. That would be a dream, because I think the Axon 7 has top hardware but a crippling software.

What other smartphones are you comparing the Axon 7 to out of interest (other than the Mini)? I'm thinking of getting one and was quite encouraged by the pocketnow review.

The problem is customs. If its delivered by UPS or FedEx then you can count on a huge import fee. Go local if you can H900 or H901 should work just fine in Canada.

The price I quoted, in Canadian dollars, includes all taxes, duties and fees. The most complete breakdown I have ever seen from an online retailer actually. The total price at my door is $450.00.
Just got a reply from B & H. The warranty is not valid in Canada. I would have to ship the product back to the US for service/replacement.
Guess I'll see what pops up Boxing Week.

I wonder if LG is still selling old stock knowing it has this defect?  Would they even care on an old model?  At this point are they too inexpensive to redo them all?
I agree with your comment and couldn't commit without a warranty.
