Is there a modern-ish phone with the sound of the WM8740 DAC? It's my favorite one and since it's not in production anymore was hoping to get something similar in my next phone.
Have a V20 atm and it's not as good as the WM8740 DAC to me.

Please tell us where we can buy that ibasso dc01?

I bought from thailand. It released before global launch. I will keep you posted on when it sells global. (Most likely you can order from ibasso.com directly.)

OK so here's an update on my high end audiophile phone buying experience:

I can't get my hands on the Xplay 5 or the XPlay 5 elite.
I have an option ot get the Xplay 6 for 200$
I have an option to buy an LG G7 for 200$
I have an option to buy a Vivo nex for almost 500$ AND
I have an option to buy a Lenovo vibe X3 for 60-70$.

a) Which one of these is the best for sound quality?
b) which one would you buy if you had the money and the access?
c) What are some plus points and drawbacks of the phones listed?

200 $ for Xplay 6 is a killer deal , if you use it as a DAP .

Xplay 5 is available on Dhgate , but not Xplay 5 Elite (or Xplay 5S) , which is impossible to find , even on second hand .
Also , Xplay 5S is way better than normal Xplay 5 .

I havent tried 5s but tested 6.

I still prefer sound from xp6 than ibasso dc01.

Ibasso dc01 also costs more battery from the phone. So you might need to charge up your phone from time to time.

Sound from smartphone didnt cost this much.

I still recommend xp6 or nex s.

But if you buy huawei samsung xiaomi oneplus pixel, this one will increase your music experience.

I'm perfectly pleased by how the V20 performs coupled with my HD6xx.. Altough I would like just a tad more volume in those few hard to drive tracks. I've tried the G7 and found it had that extra punch needed, but still retaining the familiar sound of the V20.

So I just gotta ask, how does the the newer Meridian tuned LG phones compare to the older variants?
Neither of the LG phones I've tried have had B&O tuning (at least lacking the stamp on the box & shell of the phone).
I did read somewhere that some people found the V40 lacking in volume, compared to the V30 - which had me worried.

Are there any other phones out there capable of delivering at least 2.0Vrms?

Emil
