Several reviews here claim that G6 lacks seriously in bass section.

Plz share your comments regarding G6 quad dac version.

Thanks

I did earlier: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/bes...pdated-july-2017.853115/page-15#post-13664772

G6 should be same spec to all region.
Its size is 5.7" but thanks to screen body ratio, it makes smaller than other devices.
As others have said, North America and Europe do not get the Quad DAC in the G6 and Eurooe didn't get it in the V20.

Is there confermation the Quad DAC is coming to particular or all regions?

Thats what I thought, European version doesn't have Quad-DAC aswell?

Quad dac g6 has sticker as shown above. The h870ds has quad dac for sure. US UK wont be getting it.

The g6 has several different sku's, sothe ones meant for EU and US and us markets lack the quad dac, instead they have wireless charging or some other feature no one cares about, only Asian market sku's have the quad dac. before buying a g6 definitely look it up before hand.

Well I have finally sat down and listed to the LG V20 v G6. Interesting. I am in high impedance mode into Audeze Sine headphones. High impedance is triggered by a cable with 470 ohms to ground plugged in first, then headphones.

I took a while to get another 3.5mm splitter to build in some resistors as my adapter to kick it into high impedance mode. My last two got broken by getting caught on others on the subway as they walk off. So this time I made two so I had a back up. This allows me to plug one in each phone, keeping them in high impedance mode and playing, at the same volume level. Swapping between then is now a matter of plugging in.

I am not hearing a lack of bass on the G6 as previously stated. But the slightly crisper treble and upper mid does in my experience have the effect of tilting the balance towards the top end, so this can be the interpretation people will have. This comes across as slightly better transients, cymbals, snare etc. The bass if anything is tighter on the G6. The general impression is that the G6 is less cluttered when the music gets busy, while the V20 sounds (great, but) can get very slightly less clear. This has the effect of making the V20 mid a little more forward.

The most surprising difference is the sound stage separation. The V20 seem to push the left and right further out away from the central image. But against the G6 it seems somehow false, a little phasey. Like some spacialiser or cross-feed effect. It is relatively subtle, but I wouldn't put it down to crosstalk, and isn't obvious on all tracks. Please note I have the V20 with B&O stamped on the back. Whether B&O have made any changes to the other V20s is still not clear.

Edit: I just recalled the track which showed this may be SACD downmixes to 2.0, so the original may be a 5.1, causing there to be more phase differences for the V20 to work on. Not sure.

Between these two the G6 has it by a hair. If you have the V20, getting the G6 may make you smile, but I wouldn't recommend it as a necessary upgrade. The V20 is really good already, and there is little between them

Which LG G6 model was it. Quad dac or simple.

Will it pair better with airy , bright monitors

I forgot they place different feature in different areas. Sorry for making misunderstanding.

Quad DAC.

I use Sine and PM3. Everones bright andd airy is not the same as others. Not since the bass boost brigade took hold

Off topic a bit, but which headphones do you prefer and why? I love the PM3'S and almost bought the Sines.

Thanks !

That's tough. They are both in the same area: closed, relatively neutral, planar, musical headphones.

The PM-3s are considerably more comfortable and isolating. Always my go to headphones for travel. Their musicality is almost right for me and find them very enjoyable. They have very slightly lift bass from neutral, or is it rolled of treble? There is a slight tilt, which helps on many types of source material, like bright albums, airplane entertainment systems etc. They can be driven by many phones adequately (outside of Europe and their legislated low outputs)

The sines are on ear and do not suit all. Also if you like the sound signature of the PM3s then the iPhone Cypher cable pops the bass up a bit and adds soft clipping or compression. I prefer them without the Cypher. It's pity they EQed it in my opinion. Apart from that, they are a better headphone for me. More neutral, slightly more musical (timing), and a fast sprightly top end. The problem comes when using them with a phone on dynamic material due to their low sensitivity. If you do not just play modern compressed music most phones will not be loud enough, and European phones not at all. This is why I only considered them once I had a V20, and now G6. With the impedance cable I built I can get 1.8V rms out of the headphone socket. Plenty.

For full disclosure, I just bought the AKG K872 for mostly office listening. These jump all over both of them in every way.

Sony never put any dedicated DAC nor any on it's devices, I wouldn't expect anything by now.
I know the Exynos S7 has a CL DAC but never heard of an amp.

As far as I know (but I could be wrong obviously) the CL chip on S7 is integrated DAC+amp similar to the unit in Meizu Pro 6.
Well Z3 had quite a good sound for a phone without dedicated DAC from what I read on the forums. I'd love to read some head-fi review of the XZ1 Compact.

Screeching even further off topic, what's great about the AKG K872?
I need/want a good quality closed back for under $500.00.

Thanks again!!

Well the AKG K872 are a "little" more than $500...

They are open sounding, almost, very isolating and Huge! But they are a close second to the HD800 I use at home, and closed. Also they are more sensitive than the Sines which is handy on a phone. Not perfect, but the best closed headphone for (are you kidding they are Huge?) portable use. I can't wait to use them on a plane.

They are like a very high end K550 if that means anything to you. I'll write some thoughts on it in the K872 thread soon. They do show up the little G6 & V20 deficiencies though.

Yikes, these are HD800'S territory! I will back away quietly and ask no more questions...

Hi, is there a difference in loudness between European and quad dac model (playing in the normal mode, with normal headphones)? Asking since I have eu model, which just fall short of 15% loudness power to be perfect. Thanks

I cannot find information on the European model. The US non-Quad DAC unit has 0.78 Vrms output acording to Phonearena.com which is higher than normal mode on the Quad DAC version. But it is unlikely the EU will allow this in.

I am completely anti Brexit, accept this. Backn
off Brussles
