Best place to buy an ATH - M50?
Sep 2, 2011 at 12:32 PM Post #20 of 29
I bought a used pair from a clown on ebay. After the item finally arrived, I was pleased to see a well cared for item. this was short-lived, however. I plugged them in and nothing could be heard. Of course the seller claimed they worked perfectly when he shipped them. Thankfully ebay/paypal decided in my favor and I received a full refund (all except for $11 to ship them back to the yahoo). I just ordered a new pair from ScitScat Music, what I should have done from the beginning. By the way here's a link to the listing in case he tries to relist them

This is not an authorized dealer (not on the list that was provided on the previous page), and there are reports that they sell fake products from China:

I wasn't even registered to this forum, but I felt obliged after reading this post.

p.s. I know it's an old thread but this is a response to a new post.

Currently the best place to get it new is the Sound Professionals, and they're authorized dealers too. Their price range from 100 to 120 USD depending of what model you get, when used with a discount coupon of course. And you have the option to get them modified to have a removable cable if you want to.

Where can I find the discount coupon?

Go to their website and find whichever model m50 you want. There are currently 4 models on sale. Red LE, white, and black coiled or straight cable. White is still expensive though, even with the discount. They will give you the code when you select the option to activate the instant rebate. Just apply the code during the checkout.

Amazon lists an open box pair (S model) never used, for $113, with fulfillment by Amazon. If (like me) you get free two-day shipping, that's a great deal. I've always had good luck with returns when needed with Amazon.
