Steve Vai - Sound Theories Volumes 1 and 2

Still one of the greatest guitar players ever, and he explores his more artistic side. I loved it.

This thread again proves I have a very good taste in music since a lot of the mentioned albums are in my possession(I'd say 85%). Padding my own back...

These are some of my best of 2007:

The White Stripes "Icky thump"
Silverchair "Young Modern"
The Shins "Wincing The Night Away"
Pink Martini "Hey! Eugene"
Nine Inch Nails "Year Zero"
The National "Boxer"
Mika "Life in Cartoon Motion"
Maximo Park "Our Earthly Pleasures"
Maroon 5 "It Won't be Soon Before Long"
Joshua James "The Sun is Always Brighter"
Jon McLaughlin "Indiana"
Jessy Baylin "You"
James Morrison "Undiscovered"
The Fratellis "Costello Music"
Feist "The Reminder"
CéU "CéU"
Wilco "Sky Blue Sky"

My best of the best would be Brandi Carlile's "The Story". I just can't get enough of her. Also, I haven't had much time to really "analyze" the album but new Interpol's album sounded very promising as is Smashing Pumpkins'.

Andrew Bird - Armchair Apocrypha (got this one from coltrane's sig, thanks!)
Menomena - Friend and Foe
El-P - I'll Sleep When Your Dead

Looking forward to getting the new Aesop Rock, the single "None Shall Pass" is soooooo good. I'm pretty excited.

I just have to say guys I really appreciate this thread (and last years if anyone here participated). You have all pointed me towards A LOT of great music. Unfortunately my cash flow can't keep up, but thats what Amazon wishlist is for.

Anyway, my best so far of this year is more of what has been said;

1. Modest Mouse - We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank
The Shins - Wincing the Night Away
Porcupine Tree - Fear of a Blank Planet
NIN - Year Zero

I'll be receiving The National - Boxer tomorrow and from what I've heard so far, I won't be disappointed. Thanks again.

Just don't go patting your own back over correct word usage.

My sig rules. I would add a bunch more, but thats a bit obnoxious. Son Volt, Iron and Wine, Of Montreal etc...

I have a feeling the Iron and Wine will make a whole bunch of top ten lists. It is absolutely stunning.

2. Andrew Bird - Armchair Apocrypha
3. Shearwater - Palo Santo (2007 Matador Deluxe Edition)
4. The National - Boxer
5. Blonde Redhead - 23

Did you mean "incorrect" word usage?

Anyway, I love Norah Jones but I kinda think that "Not Too Late" isn't going to win a lot of votes this year. Maybe I should listen to it more, but my initial impression was that it has a much darker atmosphere and that it wasn't meant for everybody. Oh well, I guess I should dig it out and listen to it more.
