I see on the headphone.com site the Ultrasone Edition 8 has 20db isolation which is pretty good.  I currently have the Pro 750's but they are not very isolated for a closed can.  Is the Pro 900 better?  Anybody know what the isolation spec for the edition 9 is?  Are there any other phones that compare?  Headphone.com is cool in that they list the isolation specs, however not for all cans.  I am looking for maximum isolation in a closed headphone, already have IEMs.

Never heard the ED8 or Pro750's but I can vouch for the isolation the Pro900's do provide.

The Stax 4070 is definitely worth a try as well.
Not only does it provide pretty good sound isolation, but it is also one of the greatest sounding closed-back headphones out there. Even one of the greatest overall - among all headphones.

The Pro900 isolates rather well, though I hated their sound and wouldn't call them high-end.
Better sounding and good isolating closed headphones are IMO the AKG K271/2, German Maestro GMP 8.300 D, Kenwood KH-K1000, BeyerDynamic DT770 600 ohm, DT880 NoXter modded closed back, DT150.

The DT48E is like existing in your own little universe, they isolate so well.

I agree that the GMP pro cans (the indestructable ones) have excellent isolation, as does the Beyerdynamic DT150.

For maximum isolation, you do kind of need to stay away from the velour pads.
