Hey guys,

I'm new to hi-fi and have some experience with higher end speakers. However, I was hoping for some advice on buying a great set of headphones for around $300 thats good all around and is portable/stylish. I've tried the Fanny Wangs 3000, Beats by Dre, and B&W P5 and looked at Grado SR225,335i and Sennheiser HD25's, but still cannot decide on a pair to get. Do you guys have any opinions on those headphones and other suggestions around $300 or lower?

I listen jazz, classical, r&b, hip-hop/rap, dub-step, house, and rock if that helps. I also have a pair of Sennheiser PXC 450's and am looking for the same quality of treble and mids with tight and more bass.

Not sure if they have enough bass, but the AKG K550 seem to get good reviews.

I never use terms such as "best" but I really enjoyed the Denon AH-D 2000 in that price range, I really liked the bass response.

You can decide on what you consider portable.

K550 is the can to beat in the sub 300 price range for me.

Vmoda M-80s are more portable and look better but the K500 sounds better.

I believe that you can get a brand new pair of Senn HD600 for $300 from razordogdeals on ebay. Just shot him an offer :D

HD600s were the first nice headphones I ever bought. (Probably close to 10 years ago) They are a good "all around" headphone to get but if you are looking for something to run portable and unamped they wouldn't be my recommendation as they don't isolate and are really only at their best amped from portable sources.
