Best headphones for $500 price range?

Looking into getting a new pair soon and was wondering on recommendations!
I listen to a lot of classical, jazz, pop and rock! thanks in advance!

classiclal, jazz, pop and rock!    You need all arounders. Perhaps DT880 or HD650.
But if you are going to have some collections down the road, why not buy one for specializing the specific genre. By looking at your sig., I would suggest Grados for rock. Althogh I don't listen rock, I use HF-2 for jazz and they are fantastic and FUN.

How about one of the higher end Audio Technicas? I've seen a few of them on the sale forums recently (AD2000 and up). They are typically very well regarded for jazz/classical/pop.

I second the HD650s (or you could go HD600), and then you'll want a decent DAC/ Amp. Do you have a separate buget for the amplifier or is it all together?  Even if the latter is the case, you can always wait to buy the amplifier, as the HD650s are still decent unamped (though truly nowhere near where they can be with a decent amplifier).
