OP -- Go with your first idea, the es7, you'll be happy.

Even the es5's are good, and they fold up small.

Have both, and haven't touched my Senn PX100's or PX200's since.

You're talking about the Audio Technica ATH ES7 right? Well I have a pair of white ones and they sound good, but they hurt my ear after awhile so that sucks. (They push on my ear, so either my ears comes out too much or the ES7 don't have enough depth)

Where did you find them under $100?

I would say, top up a bit, get the MS1.
