Yes I posted this earlier in the thread.
Nobody acknowledged it at all.

that is the problem with having concentrated all discussions about classical in this single 80-page thread. But it is good to see there are other headfiers who like modern and contemporary classical

Yes and yes.

I've considered starting a thread dedicated to modern and contemporary material but the lack of enthusiasm toward that sort of thing on this thread has discouraged me from doing so.

I'm on board…

I will think seriously about it.
Maybe it could bring some interesting people out of the woodwork...

It is all a matter of interpretation how a conductor is to communicate with the orchestra..

This boring old Bernstein 'the egomaniac performance act' conductor  story is dead wrong, if only because when one starts filling in individuals motives it becomes mere projection of what you want it to be..

It is the music that counts, not the degree of visual distraction..

Just sayin

Talking about piano,...

For Autumn last year BBC Radio 3 invited Peter Donohoe to do a series entitled "Fifty Great Pianists". Clicking on the HERE on this blog page of his opens a pdf file containing some of his thoughts behind his choices :
http://www.peter-donohoe.com/en/blog/fifty-great-pianists
Included is a list of the selections he made as well as a number of those he would have liked to include...

Talking about piano, I just recently discovered Mr. Perahia.
He is the one playing at Immortal Beloved movie while Gary Oldman makes some funny faces.

I recently bought the big black Perahia box (because it was just insanely cheap over at importcds.com) and I'm already finding it a more rewarding experience than the Rubinstein box (sorry, Arthur).
