How about we compromise and make them about anything that goes on, in, or around your ears that is favorable to classic rock. For IEMs, my favorite is the Kilpsch S4.
Denon D7000 for fullsize over ear, Denon HP DN-700 for portable over ear, MTPC for IEM (best rock IEM I have owned so far but I have a couple IEM's coming in that may change my opinion in this regard). If you live for guitars though Grado will float your boat alot.
The RS-1 sounds pretty great with guitars, but its level of resolution is only average. And the soundstage is very poor. The PS-1000 has higher levels of detail resolution, but it is way overpriced. I prefer the SR-507 for rock. No, they don't have that "Just Right" sound with electric guitars, but they will really bring out the details and improve the PRaT (god, I hate that phrase) in the sense that electrostatic drivers are faster than dynamic drivers.
