as the title suggest im just curious what are some great headphones for rock,metal and a little hip hop. i was looking at the sennheiser hd 515s or the 558s but im open to suggestions and i would like a really conformable set as i like to enjoy my music for hours on end lol

Grados are generally considered perfect for the rock genre; on the other hand comfort is definitely not one of their chief concerns. What price range are you considering?

Grado's are excellent but should not be listened to in public due to their extreme sound leakage.

i will be using these mostly when out and bout at my university between classes and such and a little home use to rock out in quiet lol under 200 is my budget oh yea i will be using a 80gig ipod classic if that matters

It's a good thing we asked... Grado's would have been a disaster.
 
Ultrasones are often considered the "closed Grado's" so look into the Ultrasone 580. They're good with more aggressive music and will have far more control over the sound leakage, alongside with providing some isolation.
