Hi, I have a pair of the Sennheiser HD 650s and would like to know what I should use for an amp. I don't have much to spend - less than $250 if possible. I listen to strictly classical music - mostly chamber music and solo violin repertoire. Thanks!

Yep, that's one of the best for Sennheisers. If $300 is too much, get yourself a secondhand soldering iron and build a Dynalo. It isn't as bad as you might think and they're terrific amps. Just get the parts, read the guides, and tell yourself you're going to spend one hour an evening on it until it's done. It'll go fast and you'll get years of use from it. $150 will get you all the parts and a nice case, as well.

And if we consider a DAC tube, indeed a tube amp?

With the same money, would not be possible to buy with more advantage a good DAC tube, of what a amplifier of entry?
About thesis, I think that I could the DAC tube guarantee the refinement - and then, for the amplification work only, I would be enough a portable device, more cheap.
“In thesis”, I said...
But the problem is the sinergy, maybe...
What you say?...
