I'm wondering if anyone knows if the monster turbine would benefit at all from a portable amp. Would it clean anything up a little? I've been looking at the fiio e5, something very cheap and portable.

Your Monster is fine, and yes it would benefit from a portable amp. The Fiio e5 is good, most of the Cmoy's are good also. I find an amp to be almost crucial, as most source do not have enough power to bring out the clarity and details, not to mention BASS in most IEM's.

My PA2V2 works very well with my turbines. you can definitely hear improvement, especially in the bass apartment. so yes, they benefit from portable amps

With Over 80% of user headphone ratings scoring the Monster Turbine PRO positively (score of 4 or 5 based on a 5 point scale of 70 user headphone reviews) and not a single professional reviewer giving it less than a 7/10 (based on 4 reviews), you know these Monster's are a solid product.

I concur! I'm enjoying mine with my small amp and notice a slight improvement in bass quality. And the Turbines already sound great without an amp.

Just like Dr Dre is a professional musician who endorses it, which probably makes it a 10/10 rating.

$60 for turbine + $20 for 'amp' = $80 for a much better iem.

If you want something bassy, you don't have to spend much at all.

well, why don't you offer the guy some suggestions from your formidable wealth of audiophile knowledge, instead of continually to smugly mock him with snide, condescending, sarcastic remarks.

Too bad there aren't any IEMs that are better than the Turbines for $80.  And yes, I purchased a Fiio E7 and it did tighten up the base, very happy with the combo.

I found that my Monsters sound absolutely GREAT after an extended burn-in period. They sound so good, that I prefer them to my TF10, after HOURS of side-by-side testing. A portable amp will really clean them up and added clarity and details that I did not recognize before the amp.
