The Sheffield Lab album by James Newton Howard & Friends is old-school, but great for testing a wonderfully mixed and mastered album with a very wide range of concurrent frequencies. I don't have this  album any more, but you can get a lower quality experience with these youtube videos. It comes from http://www.sheffieldlab.com which is known for producing albums meant specifically for testing out audio devices.

That's brilliant! Here's an album I wish I'd found earlier by Henrik Schwarz, titled "Instruments." Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLwyFpsSNEqoBLBDXkZsOBUJWlFA45SyUM
