Balancing Act Tube Rolling

Given the tubes in the unit, I'd think it would work out pretty well.  I was going to put some isolation devices under it, but there's a bunch of screws which makes it difficult with what I have.   I was also thinking abt some M6 brass spikes (2" diameter) from Mapleshade which I've used in the past.  These would protrude a bit from the unit but no big shakes.

I tried various iso devices I had laying around - Ingress Audio roller bearings, DH ceramic cones, Herbies cup and ball combo and Herbies Tenderfeet.  The stock rubber over steel cones sounded better than all of them.

I had tried the same thing with the Lampi and found the DH cones to work better than stock but the Sistrum platform was far better.

Now,with 4 tubes in the 4-45, tube rolling will be even more fun with the need to find....quad matched tubes  :)

Or roll in 2 matched pairs....  with one each of the matched pairs in each channel.

For extra distortion and improved sound stage? Who knows...

For people who have a EML 300b mesh with the Balancing Act...I have a question: Is the eml 300b mesh supposed to have any filament glow? My pair are completely dark yet still sound amazing, I only have this "problem" with this tube, other power tubes glow normally.

This photo's exposure took in 15 seconds.
You can see the power light is already overexposure, and 6SN7 tube looks pretty bright, compare to the EML 300B Mesh, well, you can judge by yourself.

May be you need those type of Tubes instead ?

^It certainly matches my adapters & KR PX4 w/B4 bases...but I am finding it a bit "too crispy" on top so far.

Need more time with all of my drivers, but this is at least a quick impression with my output tubes. (And a pic.)

Which output tubes are you running and what are you looking to modify with your driver?

you've got any heat problem using BA like this ?

^No problems at all with heat.  The amp was designed to run with PX-4 or 300B, just that new PX-4 tubes can come with the same base as 300B.  (KR PX-4 can come with two different types of bases and mine have the UK-type of base.)

The thing i want to know, with this disposition power supply under the BA, it's not a problem for heat dissipation ?

^Ah, now I know what you are asking.  I don't think it was, there was a good 1+ inch of space in between PS and amp.

However, I now have them just off to the side of my desk and they sit on separate shelves now.

Hello there,

Just tell me a thing : i've got few nos tubes to burn in. Is it possible to put the 2 power tubes out the BA and connect the preamp tube only.Keep it under voltage for many hours and burn ? (instead of listening many hours).
