I was using the comply and the fit is great obviously and the bass improves but the sound gets a little soft with the foam. Will the JVC spiral dots also bring out the bass but retain detail? Any other suggestions?</p>

Subbass improvement while retaining all the glorious details and slightly improving soundstage reproduction  , also I just got the spinfits in and will let you know how it compare to spiral dot tips

had a chance to listen to a pair as part of a member sending them around Australia.

Quite liked the mids and treble tuning (sweet mids, non fatiguing but bright enough highs, 50/50 on the treble extension but fine for me).
Good build and interesting wing/fit system
What struck me as odd was they have practically no sub-bass and not much bass to speak off. I can't really understand why people would buy them given the latter.

They have a broad bass lift of 4 or 5 db's, over diffuse field flat, that probably peaks 100 hz give or take and goes up well into the upper bass. It does roll off quickly under 40 hz but That doesn't impact most modern music, at least in my library.

Lol, they have more bass quantity overall than most iems I regularly listen to! (Although some may be more linear and extend deeper)

Even tho I had my slight bass issue, that is not how I would described them. What do you normally listen to?

my favorite tips are still the spiral dot tips

I am torn between JVC spiral dots and Sarounbi Spinfits.

Spinfits = more details and texture.
Spiral dots = more sub-bass and warmth.

In another news, I backed another titanium 5mm micro driver IEM via Kickstarter.
I have a feeling this will sound great as well. http://www.headfonia.com/review-flare-audio-r2a-r2pro/

I dont really care for the flare audio because they are not as established as aurisonics :confounded:..my rockets are awesome with spinfits as they have deeper insertion and perfect isolation

I love my rockets, but when R2Pro and R2A combo arrives, I will try to do a fair comparison between the two

I do see what you mean - they have more out of the box bass than most BA IEMs I have.
heh, sorry guys, still not nearly adequate for me out of the box.
maybe the extension is there but the amounts and the overall hit strength and speed are not cutting it for me.

Amount wise (I require rather high amounts), even 10db @30hz q=1.5, +10db @50hz q=1.7 doesn't seem to do it

It gets to 'ok' but not H300 great' with +10db @30hz q=0.8, +10db @60hz q=0.8 for me, but I don't know what else other than Rockboxed players can do that kind of a boost.and it's still not anywhere near where i want the sub-bass kick and the bass clarity and detail to be.

ps methinks 'linear' in the sub-bass region = perceived roll-off vs bass vs mid-bass anyhow.

For those with fiio x3 2nd gen, does the kickstarter black cable have same plug issue where it falls out of x3. Do all of them do this, mic and non mic, just random ones? Anyone have an easy fix, some strategic piece of tape or anything?

Mine is the X1 2nd gen, and I have the same problem. My rockets are Black and non-mic. There's a fix where you can use an extension, or buy an L-plug. I'm using the L-plug that I got off ebay(370811538281).

Just bought my second pair which have black cables and there really is quite a difference. The cables are much more flexible and a lot less stiff than the white ones. I'm wondering if they're as strong. They also feel lighter. Must be some reason why they were only offered during Kickstarter. Sound is identical but these are a lot more comfortable and fit better behind my ears. Decided to give my white ones to my 19 year old who was going through a pair of Apple earphones a week. Needless to say these should do much better :)
