If you are looking for premium cables talk to Sebastian at Viking Weave, he's in the UK.

I thought I would drop in this Nighthawk porn pic.
I recently dug them out for a listen. I marvel at their design and yes I like their sound.
Balanced connection into Woo WA22 or SPL Phonitor Xe.

Well I’m a little way into my first listening session with Nighthawk and I’m enjoying myself - just listened to this and was really impressed-

It’s an interesting headphone. Not what I expected in some ways.

It’s really important to give your mind time to adjust to the sound as at first it seems very congested and low end orientated.

Given time - and willingness - to adjust, it’s a lovely sounding headphone.

It’s very delicate in presentation which in a way is at odds with the sound profile.

I may be totally wrong here, but this is what I had thought a Meze Empyrean would sound something like 😂

I’m surprised at the amount of detail, and the vocals are more forward than I expected (but it’s not too much).

Imaging is excellent.

It’s funny, I’m listening to this-

- I keep closing my eyes and drifting off with the music for a few seconds here and there then I come back to earth. I can’t describe how much I enjoy that sensation. I know that when this happens, I’m in a really good place.

Music just keeps flowing like water gently down a wintery mountain stream.

The detail is wonderful. Subtle sounds appear and disappear after lingering a little more than what other headphones tend to allow.

The bass is more linear than I expected in general- I thought it would be much more present and woolly/loose than it is. Not as detailed bass as my LCD-3 but it’s still very enjoyable.

Instruments are full sounding - guitar, piano, strings and drums.

Nighthawk is very comfy, and light. Far more so than my Audeze LCD-3. It’s almost as comfy as my Mrspeakers Alpha Prime.

I’ve decided that I’ll be keeping Nighthawk. It’s great with a wide range of music styles and ideal to listen to when I just want to get totally lost in music. Particularly when I’m exhausted from a busy day.

Next step shall be to get a 4 pin balanced xlr cable for it.

Can anyone recommend gain setting for Schiit Ragnarok 2 using single ended output and 1/4” cable with Nighthawk please?
Low gain all the way; specs for that amp say 6W RMS per channel @32 Ohms for the single-ended out.

Assume there's no way of getting any more hybrid pads now...?

I don't think there is, it'd be rare to find them. You could try eBay. I was half tempted to buy another paid of headphones as they're easier to find than just the pads. Though you can just use aftermarket pads. I believe in the forums somewhere there were people talking about using a hole punch on some other pads and using the same rings or possibly even 3d printed replacement rings. So I know people replace the pads.

Thanks for confirming - thought as much. Got a 2nd hand pair of OG Nighthawks on the way (started regretted selling my Nightowls) which will have the hybrids but ideally I'd have a spare set to hand. Could grab some of the leather pads as those still seem to be available...
