Read thru this whole thread starting from page 10.
Absolutely agree with DSNUT's description of the ad900x...
this can has no obvious weakness...alot of strengths
v easy to recommend to ppl new to headphones...
no v shaped sig, no recessed mids, no sloppybass, no missingbass, no accentuatedbass,
no sibilance, no neckbreakingweight, no vicelikeclamp, easily powered...v dynamic, good intimacy.
For 200bucks...its a winner.

Just did a quick A/B against my Q701 with an ALO cable...
the glaring difference has to be the refinement of the sound.
Andrea Bocelli just sounded more refined, more details packed into the same note...on the Q701/Alo...(sorry guys )
akin to a higher thread count in fabrics...:p
I dun see how this AD900x is gonna dethrone the top tier cans...like the T1s...which is clarion.

But as it is, this AD900x has alot of upward potential with a change of cable...just a guess.
I know my Q701 stock cable suczzz ditto those on hd600...ditto pro900...ditto ditto ditto..zzz

***As i am concluding this post, the music on my head is marvellous.. wondered which can is on my head...
oh...its the AD900X. hmmm...thats how good this can is...its very very easy to enjoy this can, without nickpicking.

The AD900X for the cost. I think everyone should own a pair. They are more than versatile. The air the stage. Music is one thing the comfort level is another.. They do need a good burn in to shine but once done they are excellent cans in every way.  Try em out with gaming Wayne your in for a very immersive experience.

I have to completely agree, for sound/comfort value they are really up there. They are my current favorite open headphones.

Soundcheck with art rock/alternative band Beak - oh they make this sound so good!

Argh. With the weak yen this is looking super tempting.

I am thinking about getting a pair of AD900X to compare against the MA900 and maybe write a review about them. Sell the one I don't like.

But I'm also curious about recapturing the magic after my brief time with the AD2000's. (I loved the AD2000's but over time found the mids to be a bit honky and artificial and the sound to be a bit grainy. I preferred the SA3000 / SA5000 in the end. But now I find myself missing that magical quality of the mids. (Maybe do a comparison against the SA5000).

What an insane dilemma to have.

I ordered an ad900x to compare with my old model ad2000 non "X" model. Hopefully it gets here soon! I really like the ad2k so it should be a fun comparison. I'll post when i've had some time to compare.

Cheers,

The AD2000 is a great headphone, full of air and detail, yet very fast, a near perfect rock headphone. It does lack bass quantity, however, and that is where the AD900x comes in. If I can get around to saving some funds, I wouldn't mind trying out the AD2000x, even though at least one user of the AKG K702 65th anniversary edition, which I also have, have claimed that the two headphones are to close in SQ to keep both, he sold his AD2000x.
I'll add that I have been listening to my AD900x much more than the K702 anni's.

And yes, I am selling my AD2000's in the for sale section, as you can see from below.
