So how about the Ad2000 vs the AD2000x?
Zenerik has ordered the AD2000x and it should arrive soon for him from Japan. He also owns the AD2000. I think everyone is patiently waiting for his comparison!

From the looks of it, ad900 has better build quality than ad900x. AD1000x and AD2000x says magnesium frame in their descriptions, which leads me to believe ad900x and below are plastic (1000x and 2000x look metallic in the pics as well). These two also have metal jacks instead of plastic ones. I think ATH is pushing AD1000x and above as premium headphones for the x series. They skimped out on AD900x. As for the sound quality, I have hard time believing that they could have added in more bass without warping the original sound signature. I can't really say for sure without ABing them, but I assume it'd be a subjective preference for the sound. In MY opinion, AD900 is better buy than AD900x. I like that AD900x now has angled drivers, but that's it. Newer doesn't always mean better, that especially goes for the sound quality.
The thing is though, I never found much difference in SQ between ad700 and ad900. Justification for purchasing ad900 was difference in build quality for me. But ad700x and ad900x look identical and made of same material(?) Can some one confirm this? If so, ad700x might be a better purchase. Or skip ad900x and get ad1000x.
