Hey folks!

Wondering if anyone knows anything about ATH Woody pad compatibility. It looks like Audio Cubes II has a wide selection of nice leather pads for the W5000 and L3000, but I'm wondering if the L3000 pad is compatible with my W1000X. Anyone know? Have they always fit every model?

Aw, there's gotta be a couple of ATH pad rollers in here, somewhere.

I talked to the nice folks at AudioCubes II, and they say that all ATH W pads are interchangeable.

I plan on seeing if I can try L3000 and W5000 pads of other folks before laying down the cash though... they seem to be very different in thickness and in my experience pad size can play as much of a part in burn in / sound as the drivers settling or your ears adjusting.

Did you ask them about it?

Since most of their headphones use the same 53mm driver and housing system, they are indeed interchangeable.
The L3000 and W2002 pads are nearly the same, with some very minor construction differences, so if one is cheaper you should get that one.
IIRC, the W5000 are not as nice as the above ones, so I wouldn't get those.

I don't like the Clarino pads much either, or whatever they're called.
They are thicker than the leather pads so I suppose they do give a bit more comfort because your ears aren't resting against the hard driver housing.
But because of the increased distance of the driver to your ear, the sound also gets more distant. Wasn't my kinda thing at all.

Huh, good to know. What about the W5000 pads made them seem cheaper?

Just by looking at them, the W5000 pads looks exactly the same as the W2002- and the W1000X unfortunately arn't even real leather.
I wish the W5000 pads were a little bigger, more cushiony and pillowy. I'm sure this would effect the sound but it would be sooo comfy.
