Agree, I use this on my Roland digital piano, and it sounds fantastic!BTW, just like the LS3/5As, these absolutely nail solo piano!

I definitely recommend a good silver cable. It does wonders for the sound of the R70x’s.As I get to know them better, I am finding the upper bass a little strong (reminiscent of the “LS3/5A hump“). I wonder if a hybrid or even silver cable might help here.
May I ask which one you are using?I definitely recommend a good silver cable. It does wonders for the sound of the R70x’s.
Sorry, just saw it in your signature.

I’m using a Lavricables Ultimate Silver cable. The pairing is fantastic. There’s more clarity throughout the frequency spectrum. The bass is tight, the midrange is cleaner and more spacious sounding, and there’s a bit more sparkle up top. The sound is very balanced now to my ears.May I ask which one you are using?
I might look at that one. Currently, I’m looking at the FAW Hybrid. I already have this one on a number of other headphones, and am very pleased with the result.
I have a FAW Noir Hybrid on my LCD-MX4’s and it’s a great match for that headphone. I like the sound of my all silver cable on the R70x’s a bit more. It’s all about personal sound preferences at this point. Either cable is a nice tweak to the sound of the the R70x’sI might look at that one. Currently, I’m looking at the FAW Hybrid. Based on past experiences with FAW, I’ve ordered the Hybrid Series cable (3m, with Viablue 6.3mm plug). Looking forward to hearing the result.
The Hybrid Series transformed my Focal Spirit Pro.

is it worth spending nearly as much on a cable as the cans cost?
how much improvement are we talking 5%~?

Great question! It depends on who you ask. Normally I would say no unless your system is revealing and transparent enough to hear it. Otherwise, it would be tough to discern the improvements or differences an aftermarket cable makes.is it worth spending nearly as much on a cable as the cans cost?

Does anyone have link for .csv/.txt for r70x measurements to play with in REW? DM please
It depends how well the cans scale with decent amplification. Quality is not necessarily directly related to price!is it worth spending nearly as much on a cable as the cans cost?

I am wondering how much a gold, platinum, or plutonium cable will do for 470 ohm drivers. But anyway...is it worth spending nearly as much on a cable as the cans cost?

Yeah I would like to see some actual measurements of these cables doing anything to the sound. There would be graphs if they did, but there are literally none.I am wondering how much a gold, platinum, or plutonium cable will do for 470 ohm drivers. But anyway...
A cable with zero impedance and zero capacitance, all the way from DC to light, would be perfect. Any such cable will have the same impact on sound (i.e. none). Any cable deviating from this ideal will represent a particular set of compromises, and will act as a “filter”.
