I'm 6'5", Triple XL hat size. It fits just like that. I had to carefully, gently bend and shape it to conform so it JUST fits perfect as it is. If it were 1/4 inch shorter, it would not. Smaller folks probably could not wear these, but I have no plans to share or sell them.

Excellent haha. I find that it works fairly well for me, except the wings touch the overhanging metal band.

When I had it like that, it was a vice grip on the top of my head and ears did not clamp well, the bottom, especially. The way it is I can endlessly bend them as needed. The new pads make it a bit worse in having more pressure above the ear than below where it lacks, so I have bent them more to get the right seal. You have to be careful not to stress plastic meeting the metal headband.

Can anyone help me compare this headphone with the AKG K7xx?

I'd owned both and a great can to compare them to, an HD650. Here are my impressions of them and more also.
AKG K7xx - Best subs, extend low. Wide sound stage, smooth highs, dips and bumps in high mids are noticeable.
ATH-R70x - Similar bass doesn't extend as low. Slightly less wide sound. Much flatter mids, similar highs that are
detailed without being excessively harsh. The lightest of the three, with the HM-5 type ear pads very comfortable.
& HD-650 - Bass extension similar to R70x but less bass overall. Less low mids, that "thick sound" people will say
they have is overrated. Flat mids, best of the three. Highs are smooth yet detailed but overall just too thin for me.

Thanks for the impressions! I also tried the HD650 but didn't mention it because it seemed too different to the other 2. But from what you said should I buy the R70x if I have the k7xx already? I can see the difference but it doesn't seem to be too positive , and in terms of comfort I'm perfectly ok with the k7xx.

The only benefit I found in the R70x over the K7xx was flatter high mids, though it wasn't a huge difference. Based on your liking the K7xx, you would not find a lot new with the ATH-R70x. My other main pair of headphones is the Sony MDR-Z7, which is quite different. Even less highs, more forward (to a point of needing an EQ cut, at 1 khz) mids & much more mid and sub bass. I prefer pairs that do what the other can not vs two that are so similar. Honestly, with the surprising extra low sub extension on the K7xx you probably won't need such a pair. Their bass is remarkable - for open cans (like the even more similar (near twin) AKG K712).

Hi guys, I'm a newbie at head-fi,
Currently, I can not choose between R70x and HD600, since they sound very similar.
Anybody help me decide which is the best choice ?
I heard everybody said the HD 600 scales very well with higher end equipment.
I don't know about R70x, does it scales with amp like HD 600 ?
Thank you for advance

Hm, you really should audition both, since they sound quite different. R70x is like an upgraded HD600 with more bass and a bit better highs. The mids however, are better on the HD600. For rock and edm the R70x are a better choice. For classical music and similar go for the HD600. I prefer the comfort of the R70x.

R70X is the more natural sounding. Hd600 is the more neutral and technically proficient one.

+1 to thatonenoob. R70x is more natural and HD600 more neutral. It really depends on your music preference. I can enjoy the R70x, but get bored with the HD600 no matter how hard I try. Order both and return the one you like less. You might also check the AKG K712 (somewhat similar to the R70x) or HE400S (similar to the HD600).

Great recommendations. HE400I is also excellent. My only hesitation lays in the fact that the k712 is very hard to drive properly.
