I definitely am sure that the M50x has better comfort to me. The MSR7 driver baffle touches a huge part of my ear. The pads are just too pliant.

ya, the msr7 pads touched my ears too, those on the 50x felt deeper.
vocals sounded more upfront on the msr7 than the x50...

To put it this way: the pads of the MSR7 take a really long time to return to its original position after I press them down, whereas the M50x pads immediately return to their original position. And the M50x pads are not hard at all, I was actually surprised at how soft they were when I first got them.

That's unfortunate for you. Most people here have a better comfort with the msr7 over the m50x.

The vocals are for sure more upfront, but EQ can fix my M50x for me. The treble of the MSR7 is a bit problematic though. The M59x actually sounds a little relaxed compared to the MSR7.

You can fix the treble with EQ.

Same argument can be applied to it.

Now there's a huge disparity between msr7 lovers and inquirers.

Differences between M50 and M50x are very subtle.  It's the same driver, the same housing, the same tuning, and only different earpads.  I commented in the past that M50x bass was a bit more detailed and staging a bit wider, but I think it was all due to thicker/plushier pads and a "new toy" syndrome lol!!!  If your M50 is broken and you need a replacement, I would obviously recommend going with M50x instead of M50.  But if you want a different sound sig (based on reading here, higher quality and lower quantity bass and more open brighter/detailed upper mids/treble) - MSR7 might be a good way to go.  Just keep in mind, M50x is more of a replacement (with RC convenience) rather than upgrade from M50.

Oh, and forgot to mention "welcome to head-fi, sorry about your wallet"

I've owned the M50 and comfort was horrible and sound was nothing to write home about. If M50X has improved comfort, great, but if it sounds the same as M50, then MSR7 is a huge upgrade.

^omg how many times must it be stated the M50x sounds different. U can check out the M50x thread, or even ask Tyll. He even has measurements comparing the two.

Very subtle differences from certain people's comments on headfi.

It's a matter of taste and auditioning. Best thing to do is to audition the msr7s at a local store.
