Is it any better than this one:

That one costs $40.

I think I will not be needing the mic since I will be plugging it straight on my Clip Zip.

Try ask Twister6, he reviewed that silver cable a dozen posts back in IM03 appreciation and now in his blog . He mentioned,

I found this improvement to be more enjoyable with IM03 but not as much with IM50 where even with original cable it was already pushing the envelope.

The cable doesn't change the sound much, but change the IM03 instead. I chose the clothed lunashop's cable with mic ($20) and somehow it makes the IM70 sounds underwhelming compared to the stock. The IM03, however, isn't affected by the cable but I love how the cable is extremely supple, pliant, lightweight, and easier to store.

anyone know if this works with the htc one? i know its android but for some reason the pistons 2.1 volume doesnt work with it..

I dont think the inline volume controls work with any android phone sadly, the play/pause button should work fine tho, if it doesnt you may just have to check your settings depending on what music player you use.

I just bought an IM70 and so far, I am really impressed. I'm using my Sony hybrids that came with my lowest end Sony iem. The problem is, I really can't stand the color of my IM70 :D Can you suggest the best and cheapest way to make it black while still retaining its premium (shiny) look? I was thinking of using a black Sharpie hehe. I also don't take reshelling as an option due to budget constraints. Thanks

You could buy some carbon fiber or some other similar thing to cover it with. Just be sure not to cover the vents. I was iffy about the color at first too, but it grew on me. Like I said in my review, it has a very 80's electronics look to it. Might be more appealing to some than others.

Thanks for the great suggestion. Yes, it really looks nice and premium. I'm already starting to like it too. I'm just not used to flashy colors and most of my things are black. I might try your suggestion later and put carbon fiber on the outer face sides

Can you unplug the cables and try to connect R to L and vice versa and check them again? If the problem still remains, try to remove the filter with a needle and clean inside of the nozzle with a cotton stick.

Just took off the filters today - considerably more shimmer in the highs now, even with the stock tips. There does seem to be  a bit of an imbalance but I think this is just placebo (or the fact many songs have hi-hats panned to the left) and might go away once I stop thinking I wrecked it. It's not that the volume sounds different, but the right channel feels more veiled and congested while the left is brighter. I used a q-tip to clean the insides of both nozzles and found some pink stuff inside. At first I thought this was the alcohol sanitizer that got in to the right channel but now I see both sides appear to have it. It might be residue from the molding of the red nozzle.

From what I can see there is a black spot at the back of both - this appears to be a second filter. From some of the dissections of the IM70 and IM50 I know there is a paper filter at the very back that protects the driver. - has anyone tried removing this?

Is there any way to clean the pressure vent?

Usually with a small pin, and very carefully. But try to pick instead of pushing, otherwise you might end up opening the housing to clean it from the inside.

There are specialist plastic paints used by model makers. Plastikote is a brand of aerosol spray paint. It might be worth contacting their customer service people for advice or checking out a model builders' forum (you know, remote controlled boats, cars and planes etc) to see how they do it.

This is a very helpful thread and I have just received a pair of red IM70s from Japan. I am already enjoying the sound immensely, especially the musicality and extension of the bass. So far, I am finding the highs slightly muted but the mids are very clear and nicely defined despite the lack of top end sparkle. I am hoping they will open up a little more after a week or so.

I love the red colour!

I would not have even known abput these IEMs without browsing head-fi so a big thank you to everyone who has contributed reviews and recommendations here and on the other long thread.

I have also ordered the silver plated OFC android remote lunacable as well. Thanks again for the recommendations.

I have been auditioning various tips and haven't quite found the right ones yet. The comply tips were a nice freebie in the box but they somehow reduced the soundstage and muffled the already-veiled high range frequencies. I have tried various silicone tips. I never have liked the dual or triple flange tips so currently I am using some medium tips from the earphones supplied with my galaxy note 3 phone. They are soft and have a wide opening. The large tips were also good but i could not get a deep insertion with them and they occasionally blocked the bass port. The medium samsung tips work well enough for me at the moment but i have also ordered some sony hybrid tips again on the recommendation of the good people here.

The samsung tips are very soft, white silicone tips with a large bore. They are quite short compared to the complys for example so they are comfortable and create a reasonable seal. They do not block out all of the ambient noise like the complys but i like to be aware of my surroundings anyway.
