Audio Technica ATH-IM70: A Bold New Direction

For an IEM with universal ears hooks design, the I'm-70 is very well fitted. The only time I found it hurting was the first time I had it on. I had the wire in the front of my ear, instead of rounding from behind....and my ghosh that was so uncomfortable....

Beside that, I could even lie on it without problem, it may be lying against your lobes, but as long as you turn enough to give it the space, it won't be a problem at all. Unless you want a custom made one

They are on the large side. It takes a little time to get used to, but I find them very comfortable. Worst case scenario: you could return them if they bother you too much.

Hmm they are definitely larger than shure se215, Westone 4Rand the likes, but still tiny compared to my Universal JH Roxanne. :D

This IM70 sounds 90% similar to my FX850. Vocal and bass is pretty much similar. The only difference is the treble, FX850 has more splash and airiness. It is very noticeable with cymbals, FX850's treble just extend more while the IM70 rolled off faster. The treble quantity is also a touch more in FX850, cymbal is more pronounce in the FX850. Still, for $99, IM70 is a very good value for an IEM. If you like warm, full bodied and lush sound, you will definitely love IM70.

Just remove the filters and compare them again.

Why do they even put the filter there to begin with?

This iem is very fun to listen to. It has a very smooth non fatiguing high, making it very good on long listening session. Treble is there, but the focus is more on the mid and bass. Mid is very forward, it really clears up after some burn in, sound very natural. Bass is fully bodied with great impact. At first the bass is a bit overpowering, but after some burn in it will ease up and provide a nice solid sound to the overall presentation. Obviously, im70 is a warm sounding iem that provide a good details, very nice and spacious soundstage, natural sound and a lot of fun.

The filter mod is just removing the filters with a help of a needle. It is very easy and reversible.

The bass getting tighter, but still boom and slam you like a boss. It just at first it can muddy up the mid, but with burn in it clears up.
