Audio-gd NFB-28

I had no issues with drivers on my NFB-15.32 either.  Just make sure you install the right one (duh) and it works perfectly fine.

Also note that you only need the drivers for USB.  If you use optical, no drivers needed.

Ok, thanks. Normally I don't need drivers on my Mac, but I'll be using this at work using Windows and my current Schiit gear doesn't need drivers unless I'm playing hi-res audio (which I'm not).

Can someone help me out with my NFB-28? I'm on Windows 8.1 x64. I think I've installed the drivers correctly, however whenever I installed them, it said driver version 1.2 (Is that the latest version?) When I select playback device it says SPDIF Interface. I thought SPDIF was only the optical chord.

I can get audio through Foobar2000 and Windows system sounds, but that's all. Is there any way to hear audio from Spotify or Chrome, Firefox?

Edit: I think I've found my issue, I had the default sample rate set too high. I changed it from 2 channel, 32 bit, 384000Hz to 2 channel, 32 bit, 192000Hz.

You also may have to go to your playback devices and set it to the default device.

I believe you need to have the driver from audio gd I stalled that correlates with when your device was built. But the newer on May work as well I have never tested it on my audio gd stuff.

Aside from that yeah - I believe having your whole system go will have to be at 192 - also what jodgey said - sticking with same USB port gettin it locked in as that default device when the unit is on.

Having a tough time deciding between a used ViolectricV200 (plus existing Wyrd + Modi) and an NFB-28 or NFB-10.33. There's something about German engineering and the black background and solid bottom end of the Violectric that keeps calling.

Audio-GD devices are pretty heavily biased into class A.  Be sure to give it a few hours to warm up and settle before listening too critically.

In the Schiit Story thread, Mike Moffat said he leaves all his Schiit gear on 24/7. They've been on since the last power outage 4 months ago, lol. Of course, he also does not claim to be a tree-hugger in any way, shape, or form.

My gear, tube gear included, only gets turned off by power outages as well.  Things tend to fail on state change more than constant state.  Ie on power on, disconnect, moved, jack insert etc.

My 10.33 came in... happy to say I am quite enjoying it, thanks again, Zach!

I'm impressed by the build quality. It sound great with my speaker setup too boot.

I'm especially liking the usb32, as I've never really been a fan of usb. It was quite the surprise that the usb was on equal level as the spdif...

That said, I cannot seem to get Asio working, is there something I'm missing by follwoing Kingwa's posted directions on the download page? I'm using Foobar, and asio has never been this tricky before.

You can try this step by step procedure http://download.yamaha.com/api/asset/file/?language=en&site=europe.yamaha.com&asset_id=59782

Start from page 3 assuming you have already installed the Audio-gd driver. Of course, select Audio-gd instead of Yamaha.

  Hi there!

Anyone using this to power a LCD 2.2F? How's the amp's sound "signature"? I wonder if this is a bright or warm amp...

Also is the USB-32 and ES9018 upgrade worth it?

I guess the question is, what are you upgrading from?

The ES9018 chip is inherently a little bright with good details, but the Audio-GD implementation is very good, making it smooth, detailed, punchy and dynamic.   It should work great with the LCD's,I loved it with my HE-500.

If you use USB than the upgrade is worth it, as the USB-32 sounds great.
