Audio-GD Master 9

I just got a m9, replacing a m19.
The m9 is bigger and heavier and sounds a bit beefier compared to the m19.
I never had the time to do a proper comparison between the two. The M9 when I turned it one just sounded bigger than what I expected.

Love it
I hope to upgrade my master19 at some point.

But I want the flagship he9le.

I wanted to try out more amps but everything I've tested dulls in comparison the master19. I suspect its partially because of the acss connection but even more than that, its so versatile as a preamp. Everything I have just runs through the master19 to make use of the acss connection.

If you own an audio-gd dac and amp, you're doing yourself a disservice by not using the acss connection.

And I recently discovered that by maximizing the volume on my master19 as a preamp then reducing the volume on my tube amp to the minimum, the sound just became alot more lively and vibrant.

So volume is at about 65 on high gain on the master19, in the past I used it at volume 34. Interestingly, it runs cooler with the higher volume.

Only bad thing I could think of is that owners of Master 19 reports it gets hot. How hot I don’t know.
On a normal day with no fan anywhere between 106F and 112F and with fan 89-98F and that is living in the desert SW US with ambient room temp between 78-80F

Now you got me thinking of upgrading my own Master 19, possibly to the HE-9 LE

I have the Gustard X18. I will be getting the Gustard A26, or the Singxer SDA-6 PRO2 soon. Why do you ask ?
I thought maybe you had R28 or R1N. I confused you profile picture with somebldy else.

I would have recommend DI20/24HE before the amp. I have not heard the gustards…

Not compatible, Gustard won't play DSD with DI-20/24 on I2S port, sorry.

about headphone drivability like Tungsten using HE9 mk3 via ACSS from R7-HE mk3?

There is a lot of talk about which amps would drive the mod house Tungsten to which DB...

I gathered that one should look at Volts rather then power and having 24 Volts must be enough. Headphones.com put up some calculator but given a DAC output voltage combined with gain of HP amp one can pretty confidently guess if it'll work out...

So I can do that with mentioned AGD combo, but what about ACSS...

2+2MA (ACSS) output spec of the DAC?
