Audio-GD Master 9

How many times  over and over and over again in this thread and in the HE-6 thread does this conversation repeat itself.  I think the conclusion is understood.  The M9 and maybe the EF-6 and maybe the GSX MK2 have plenty of power to drive the HE-6 to 90-95% of their potential.   That plus their flexibility with other headphones is their selling card.  To get 100% from the HE-6  look to a proper speaker amp..

I hope we are all settled on this and don't need to repeat it 100000 times over.  CASE CLOSED!!!!

Nah, he's right, the case it ****ing closed. I couldn't believe when I refreshed this page today that there were now 3 more pages discussing the same question. Clarification, sure I'm all for that and ask the same question 100 times. But ongoing bitching about it, nah...

Anyway, I'll be interested to do the Pricklely Peete MAX Mod to my Phoenix and then see how I can get it into the same room for a comparison with a Master 9. I'm really happy to hear that the M9 seems to be warmer/bassier than the M5/6/8. Can never get enough slamming BASS

And though I might want to get my hands on an HE-6 some day, I doubt I'll ever buy one, so I'm super pumped to pair the Phoenix up with my new LCD-2.2 :-D  And maybe a pair of 2013 D7000s or TH900s some time in the distant future.

just took delivery of this thing.....it is HUGE...now to let it melt for a while before turning it on....good times.....

Congrats, i'm interested in your impressions of the LCD-X vs HE-6 both driven by the M9. I'm considering buying one of them.

Ah but will it turn my HD800s into bass monsters?
Heck can any amp regardless of price do that?

I'm curious how the HE-500 compares to the HE-6 on the M9.   Most threads on the these two headphones hold them close to equal in performance.   My guess is that the M9 can drive the HE-6 to 90%-95% of it's potential while driving the HE-500 to 100%-105% of it's potential.  Any one who has heard both combinations- please speak up.

The HE-500 is a very nice sounding headphone, especially with mods but they can't touch a well driven HE-6 IMO. A HE-6 at 90-95% driven will still winout against a HE-500 at 100%.

I don't have the M9 but do own the 500 and the 6.  Don't think you'll get the 500 beyond 90-95% of the HE-6, they're different cans and the 6 has more potential and is more transparent and resolving even on the same amplifier as the 500 and even if that amp has more than ample power for the 500 but is marginal for the 6.  It's only 10% but bridging that gap...nah.  Have to say:  with some types of music/moods I prefer the 500 to the 6, it's coloured but the midrange is to die for.
