He makes several comparisons to restaurants in that video.

I'll admit that I didn't watch it.

But I did read all the comments from his fans. I always get the impression that they want to believe so badly.

I don't think Amir listens to gear. That's like reviewing restaurants without tasting the food.

He makes several comparisons to restaurants in that video.
Can't stand his writing, now i can see i can't stand his talking either. He is all conptemt. He has very little respect for audio-gd. Narrow-minded as you rarely encounter. Frankly, i watched only the first minute. Painfull, still. He should find a better way to earn a living, cause he sounds like a shill.

Couldn't disagree with you more Freddyboyyyyyyyyyyyyy ....
People like Amir Majidmehr (and that dude that runz SBAF) believe what they preach...soup to nuts. After all look at all the fanboyzzzzzzzzz at ASR (and SBAF for that matter) .... you can't foolz dat many boyzzzzzz -- their huge membership -- by pretendin' to spew science or whatever just for the sake of donations, ad revenue or free samplez. Remember: Majidmehr and Purrin' are decades older than their membership fanbase ... somthin' about being older being equated to the second comin'....and ohhhhhhhhh .... those boyzz are juicy n' young. Uhhhhnnnn!!!! Oh the humanity!!!
And OMG is ASR a happen' place. Their Alexa (web traffic) rating is 59k (no doubt helped by high Google SERP) ... meanwhile, places like H-F have been slippin' slowly (HF used to be ~5k a few years ago, now over 20k ... so ASR is stealin' the show????).
Wrignt or rong ... like it or not ... Ripley's Believe it or Not ... ASR is the new game in town.
Majidmehr for prezident!!!!!!!!!!!!

Audio-GD have made a DAC AS-1 with very low distortion that target the audience looking only at figures.
The ASR tends not to evaluate this DAC to escape from embarrassment.
These dates to design a low distortion amp is not difficult, to make it sound good is another story.

Popularity and having a lot of followers means one of two things:

1. The forum is good
2. People have little knowledge

I lean for 2. And I am not a boy but i suppose your are one. As for Amir, he is sort of a guru and in those dark days, we see a lot of his kind unfortunately.

I was shocked how much better the RME ADI2 sounded on my system compared with my Audio-GD NOS11..also the pre-amp took a run upwards once without
warning and almost blew my speakers.. btw the whole objectivists/subjectivists discussion is kind of lame..you're either on the outside extremes or somewhere in between..
Don't be so bloody judgemental.. ;)

Glad you found a dac you like. Happy you base your appreciation on listening. And audio-gd can't be to everyone's preference of course. Maybe you would like the newer r2r dacs better. Maybe not. Things have evolved much since the nos11.

Amir has a combination of good and bad features. On one side he is an amateur, completely ignorant of a proper setting up measuring equipment (an example is a TotalDAC Six test and many other), on the other side is an extremely hard working and ambitious person. Combination of both is.... mischieve malice.

Previously in the R2R-11 test, it was a strong ground loops caused by a 50Hz power generator (the same as on the TotalDAC Six test) that caused R2R-11 to reset periodically every 20 second. And he proceeded with tests, it is not right. This last example is an evident case of collecting defective equipment from all over US. Not my comment, it was already pointed out on his forum. He never tested Audio GD equipment sourced directly from the factory like it is done with Topping or SMSL, only the equipment that happened to fail after a time and the owner noticed that there is something wrong with it..

EDIT: Collecting defective equipment for testing constitute a malice. So I am replacing with a correct word.

AFAIK, he does not make any declaration of interests either. I would like to know how he finances his activities. He seems to have a real interest in discrediting audio-gd. It would be nice if he attacked brands like Moon, Accuphase or Krell cause they don't measure better than audio-gd. Maybe he fears a lawsuit. I am suprised Schitt has not taken any action against him.

I am not interested in that. I only know that the top performing DAC at a time was a Topping D30 and I failed on his recommendation costing me $130 plus shipment. Amir made one-time mistake and he made tear-off test. Users have noticed that a tested model has an expensive SiTime oscilators and other expensive parts which were missing in their versions. I checked mine and it was the same. No-name oscilators and quality caps missing. I also suspect I received fake opamps, as there is no other explanation why it sounds so bad. It was replaced with a $42 Nobsound 8xTDA1387 portable DAC/HPA, no fake opamps (still in use on the road).

Good anecdote ! I can't help laughing. Sorry.

My 9 yr. old M7S is still making fine music this morning. It is the only piece of gear that has not been replaced in the 9 yr. span. As a original Master 7 I preferred it over the MSB Analog DAC and Schiit Iggy v1. I gave those two DACs exclusive listening for 6 months. Returning to M7 sounded like MUSIC! The other DACs had better vocals (at the time) but were LEAN sounding in my system. The Master 7 was so rich and organic in comparison.

With few audio stores now days we have to rely so much on word of mouth. It is depressing that we are so easily influenced by what we read or see. Trust your ears!
