It actually depends on N1 and N0.
N0 is more fragile in the highs. There is tiny bit more air

N0 also has nice timing with 4.075V. I use to like this with masterclock(DI20HE) only. However its makes it more pulsing/breathing. Nice rythm with DI20.
It feels like the R8 got the airy, uplifting top from the R1 but everything else is much more mature still. Drums are stable, everything is more appealing to me.

I am keeping the V3.99 so far. Very like 4.075. The instrument placement is not as precise but still there. This one is nice on DI20. ...only 2 firmwares left....3.93 and the original firmware.
So far this seems good with the SPDIF input. However reflashing back to the 4.075 when i have heard them all
My favorite settings so far: DI20 and R8H2
DI20(V4.075) - R8H2/NO new nos(NO)
DI20(V3.99) - R8H2/N1/NO ... new nos mode(NO) for airyness in the top. noticeable on the hihats on the drums.
DI20HE(4.075) - R8H2/N1 with masterclock NO
