Has anyone succesfully used USB cables on the DI20/HE.

Without the power wires in the cable?

Meaning: only data is transferred

Yes. It works for me... But if you want the best usb cable in the world- at ANY cost just get: https://fibbrcable.com/products/alpha-usb-a-b-optical-fiber-digital-audio-cable. Every other USB cabe is a waste of time compared to this- it is so so much better...

Nothing can beat it-- but you do need usb 3.0 output from your PC or streamer for it to work. Get a top of the line Power supply for it as well:

It use custom USB chip, similar to Intona isolators and price was set to compete with Intona (and DI-20). Now they smell something, they reduced a price by a half.

It is not noise-free device as on the downstream side optical transmitters generate pulse load, therefore for a good effect it require the best PSU you can get... With an added cost.

Two years ago (maybe) I would go for it, but now there are isolator chips in serial production from Analogue Devices ADuM3165 and Texas Instruments ISOUSB211, market will be bombarded with USB dongles in the price range $40. No power required, like those (obsolete now for $9 max) on the screenshot from Aliexpress.

This I think, uses one of the next gen ADUM USB isolators you were referring, correct?
