New Head-Fier
FYI: Audeze twitter said tracking information should be coming today for those of us who ordered before 11/12. Let's just hope they don't use USPS...
How do you remove the pads on these? I know the plastic ring has to come off with them.
I don't want to just yank on them and break something if it's a twist or something, and there are no instructions or videos online.
Has anyone found some nice velour pads? I personally cannot stand the pleather and velour is so much cooler to wear for extended periodsYou should see little" tabs" on the plastic rings. Get your nails under there and pry out. If you get a few fingers worth spread out a little more from the tabs they pop right off

Thanks very helpful. Have you ever used the Suede type? I have larger ears/head, and dislike the leatherette feel. I guess when they arrive tomorrow I will have a better understanding of what modifications I must make. I appreciate the help!Dekoni had suede ones. Looks like anything that will fit the mobius will fit the penrose. Plus Dekoni lists the inside and outside dimensions so could take that to other 3rd party and see if they have an oval that will fit

1) The headphones do not respond to changing volume in Windows at all, they only respond to lowering volume in e.g. Youtube or the volume wheel on the left earcup. Basically if I mute the sound in Windows, I still have the same volume in the headphones. In the Sound settings, "Speakers (Audeze Penrose)" is selected.
2) The headphones do not respond to any changes in the Penrose mix amp unless connected through USB, but I suppose that may be how it's meant to be. That said, with the USB connected and when I move any of the equializer sliders up, the overall volume decreases??? What's that about? Lowering the sliders seems to actually lower the actual frequency.
Also, should one utilize the "Spatial sound" setting in Windows? If yes, any recommended settings for gaming use mostly? Or stay clear of it altogether?
- Expected behavior at this time. Audeze stated they were looking to add this feature and have requested it for their wireless SDK dev.
- Also expected behavior. Currently, you can only pass on changes and updates to the Penrose via direct USB connection. This is also a feature they have since requested for their wireless SDK dev. Same with the volume decreasing when adjusting EQ bands.
- That is up to you. MLE uses Wave NX and seems to enjoy it. Dolby Atmos for Headphones seem to work alright for games that support it. I personally prefer keeping that stuff turned off and using stereo.
DTS X for headphones & Dolby atmos for headphones are both on sale right now and work across Xbox and PC, Fyi. I personally prefer the DTS option.Wow really? Guess I should have read up before ordering...
Sounds to me like a non-finished product. May return them straight away and deal with the USB cable on the Mobius then.
Hi Mark !
I'd like to know if you're using any spatialization software (Dolby, Waves NX, Sonic, ...) on your PC in order such a good result ?
Thank you for your feedback!
David
Mine literally just came through for the Penrose X with UPS tracking. I ordered in August.Did anyone who ordered early get a shipment notice? I order in July and am still at unfulfilled.
