So whats the difference between this and the mobius
So whats the difference between this and the mobius
This seems to lack the 3D audio/headtracking stuff and the higher quality bluetooth codecs the Mobius supports while adding a 2.4GHz wireless connection option for lower latency and better game console support
What does better console support mean, Mobius is already supported by every console.
Better in that you can now connect wirelessly to game consoles vs using a 3.5mm or USB wired connection
well that will actually sound worse than a wire connection but I know what u mean.
Oh this is exciting! I play only on PS4, and tried my Mobius with it but it wasn't the most convenient having to connect to it via USB.
Does the Penrose for PS4 have a party chat:game audio slider for example if I wanted to hear my party chat more prominently and less of the game audio? Or will we have to adjust the ratio in the PS4 settings.
Penrose will be able to take advantage of the 3D audio on PS5 when it is made available and it will also be able to take advantage of Dolby Atmos, DTS and Windows Sonic for headphones on X box. We plan to make custom presets available to provide the optimal pairing with these headphone virtualization options.I am fairly confident that Sony will go all in on allowing their 3D Audio to be pushed over BT and USB. It only makes sense.
Now we only need more game designers to design good immersive audio.

Are there minor technical, tuning differences to the Mobius driver? What did you guys change?
Yes Penrose will have Side-tone toggling.@Audeze does this have sidetone / zero-latency monitoring of the microphone like Mobius? That's an important thing for me. I currently use the Audio Technica G1WL which has this feature.
Yes PC and MAC will be supported. You can of course use it with mobile devices in BT mode.I presume these can also be used with PC? Might replace my old Sennheiser gaming headset with these when I buy PS5.

PS5 will support 3D audio using their Tempest engine. This is radically different from typical console 5.1/7.1/Dolby Atmos support that we have had. Initially users will be able to select one of the predefined HRTFs from the list and in future (2021 ?) users might be able to upload a picture and create custom HRTFs. From a headphone perspective, the output is stereo and Penrose will support it.@Audeze Does it need to support the 3D sound that Sony Playstation 5 is really advertising? Or do you have to buy Sony's headphones to benefit from that "3D Sound" they are investing heavily in?

The drivers are the same. Tuning is very similar to Mobius (without 3D) with minor adjustments to make up for the difference in electronics within the ear cup cavity.I am fairly confident that Sony will go all in on allowing their 3D Audio to be pushed over BT and USB. It only makes sense.
Now we only need more game designers to design good immersive audio.

Nice, this more or less confirms that Sony is serious about audio connectivity too this time. Now we just need confirmation that their 3D Audio mix is also going out over USB.
