Audeze - MM-Series - MM-500

Still havent tried one yet. I really cant wait.
Although I do have the LCD5, as well as the R, I have tried the LCD2, X, and XC. Loved them all, so I assume the MM500 would be just fine. Similar, expected detail, and house sound. Some say the LCD5 has a different house sound, and I kinda agree, but also notice similarities still. I wonder what everyone thinks with these, if they are also 'oddballs' of the group

I was so committed to buy them as soon as they are available, but was set back by early reviews and feedback from users on reddit, so ended up with HE-1000V2.

Very different headphone indeed.

HE1000V2 is much airier and brighter sounding, and at the same time you get the sweetness tone as well. MM-500 is much closer to neutral side, darker treble with less air, more density and impact/bite in each notes, but also with the tighter and faster bass response.

With MM-500 the musician feels like "here" with me, for HE1000v2 is like watching them from some rows back.

but also with the tighter and faster bass response
Not sure if this is amplification related but I've found HE1000v2 bass extremely tight and fast, probably the only faster one I've heard was on ATH-AD2000, but it didn't have the same impact. And LCD-X 2021 in comparison is fuzzy wooly there.
Well, one day if Audeze figure out comfort issues with new headband it might go back to my things to try list, I just can't physically stand clampy headphones.

So the soundstage even smaller than LCD-X, this is what other reviewers saying as well. Bummer.

This is what near field studio speaker does too. I can imagine so hard for sound engineer to work with Hifiman's soundstage.

MM-500 and LCD-5 depart a bit far from typical LCD-X or LCD-4 sound tuning. No more "pillow" bass here.

I bend a little for the headband, now really comfort on my head.

MM-500 are in the building:

Am using an aftermarket cable I originally had made for the HEDDphones (of pleasant memory): Neotech UPOCC 4x 22AWG solid core copper.

VERY preliminary remarks:
>(-) A spot of discomfort developing where the band goes across the top of my head.
>(-) My ears are medium-large and feel just a bit confined in the ear pads. (Caveat: I have been regularly listening to the Ananda.)
>(+) Very orderly and detailed, as well as both an engaging and an immersive presentation.
>(+) Soundstage is ample enough (for me). Imaging is very good.
>(?) Upper midrange prominence noticeable, but has not breached my brink of tolerance--yet (the next Bee Gees track might do it, though).

In short (nouveau excitement notwithstanding), to my ears, a lot of things sound just about "right", just as they are, with the MM-500 (e.g. Madman Across the Water, bonus track from Elton John's re-mastered Tumbleweed Connection release, is playing).
