Audeze LCD-X

There's nothing to show that would imply those are not legitimate pads. Those are real leather as well. Non-genuine leather also does not have grain like that.

Leather pads can vary from unit to unit due to the handmade nature of them.
@Audeze

I understand, so you confirm that the pads have been revised compared to the 2021 version (which my 2021 LCD-Xs come with) and that these pads I received from Thomann are part of the new revision?

If so, what exactly has been revised compared to the 2021 pads?

The pads were changed in late 2020 with the driver changes. Any differences can be from usage and the variable nature of leather, and handmade assembly.

Speaking of variance. They look identical otherwise. It looks more extreme than it is, both sides are equally "pliable".

Regarding the latest pads... I too thought that the material looked very different, more 'pleather'-like...
Until I actually checked them out side by side, and actually the differences in the actual material were fairly minimal. What was different was more that the pads that came stock on my X'21 had seams with a prominent, firm edge. Whereas the seams on the replacement pads I got this week seem to be more recessed and leave no edge (well, not a 'feel-able' one). They're also noticeably a bit thicker at the back. A lot more like the pads that came on my 4Zs.
I'm very happy with the replacement pads so far.

Do you still have the pads you removed from your LCD-X '21?

Will my ifi go bar kensei be able to amp an lcd-x?
You can definitively drive the LCD-X on a dongle, I have tried with all the dongles I have like the Cayin RU7, Earmen Colibri and Aune Yuki, probably the Colibri is the one that drives it best because it's battery operated, but I don't think it's the best experience tho, like you can get the LCD-X loud with these dongles, probably with the exception of the Yuki, but I found that there's problems with bass and specially treble reproduction, it tends to sound harsher than it should or in comparison to a proper desktop amp.

I dont think youll have any problems. As an example, I use modular hart audio cables for all my headphones. When they released the usb-c interconnect, I picked it up to give it a try. I hooked my LCD-X directly up to my iphone 15 pro with the hart usb-c cable (so no amp at all) and it sounds amazing. I tend to listen on the louder side and i only need to raise the volume on my phone to about 70% and its plenty loud.

Dude, your EQ profile for the LCD-X 2021 it's just amazing!!!, like everything that it's good on the LCD-X it's just turn up to 11 and everything that was a little bit or somewhat sub-par was smooth out. The only thing that I did to suit this to my preferences was turn down the bass like 3 or 4dB and that was it, everything else it's perfect or close to perfect.

I just wish we could EQ better ergos and comfort into the LCD line from Audeze and then there wouldn't be a need to buy any other headphone ever.

Btw, and if it's not much to ask, would happen to have a EQ profile for the OG Clears with original pads?, if you're doing this amazing work with the LCD-X, I want to hear what you can do for a Focal.
Actually that's a set I wish I owned, or could at least try as I've heard many good things about them...but unfortunately I've not had the chance so, no EQ for that one...

But thanks for the kudos on my EQ, bro!!...and I only put that much bass in it to mimic my Subwoofer studio setup...so many people do the same thing as I don't think many people are used to 'headphones' having subwoofer type power...so I'm glad you made the adjustment!!

Blessings,
-J
