For LCD-X (2016 vintage), there is nothing like being driven by ZMF Aegis (designed by @L0rdGwyn) ....

The only changes from 2021 was slightly revised pads, and different accessories. The cable is now 4 pin XLR with a 1/4" adapter, as previous post mentioned. The case would be different if you had purchased the Premium Edition which came with more robust case. We know use the standard case (was named economy cased back then), which was the case used on the non-Premium LCD-X sku back then. We've simplified and only provide one SKU now.

Can you compare atrium closed to lcd x 2021?
They're wildly different headphones so I'm not sure where to start. Is there anything more specific that you'd like to know?

like the soundstage, bass, imaging and micro detailing
I know the zmf headphones have natural timbre but wanted to know other aspects
Ah. Okay.

The Atrium Closed has a decent soundstage and the imaging is quite precise but it sounds more like a large room than a concert hall. The Verite Closed is the largest for stage in the ZMF closed back lineup. Mid Bass and Sub Bass are quite a lot more pronounced on the Atrium Closed compared to the stock tuning of the LCDX but the LCDX can be EQ'd with essentially zero distortion to extreme sub bass head levels where the AC has much less excursion in its transducer capabilities.

AC has excellent detail retrieval for a dynamic driver closed back but isn't on the level as something that's more analytic like DCA E3. The timbre is VASTLY better on the AC though and compared to the LCDX the AC beats it for timbre as well. Atrium Closed excels on a more neutral source like the Ferrum stack and is highly scalable. Much more than LCDX. AC also has a plethora of pad options that changes the sound pretty drastically so with just a tiny amount of extra money you can buy a bunch of pads and essentially have multiple sound signatures in one.

Like all ZMF's you're buying the timbre, comfort and beautiful craftsmanship. If you've got a tube chain in your collection or a higher end solid state the AC is one of my favorite headphones to just kick back and enjoy the music but none of their lineup is known for detail and resolving capabilities with Caldera being the only exception. If micro detail, soundstage and imaging is higher up on your list of priorities I'd probably look at a DCA E3 especially if you've got a high current source.

@Audeze

I would like confirmation about the new pads I recently purchased from Thomann.de

I have had my LCD-X since 2022 so it is the 2021 version with foam pads.

As already mentioned, I purchased a pair of pads from Thomann.de but the item I received is obviously different from the pads mounted on my 2021 LCD-X, these sent by Thomann have a thinner skin that wrinkles when pressed, the surface appears more homogeneous and opaque:

While the pads of my 2021 LCD-X have a thicker skin, more quality to the touch, the surface is more irregular with various folds due to the hardness of the skin and is a deeper black and shiny.

The label on the packaging of the pads purchased from Thomann says this:

Below is a direct comparison between the two:

is this a genuine Audeze product?

have you recently changed your pads with these? If so, it's a real shame because the leather of the 2021 pads seems to be clearly superior. the shape of these new pads seems better because it is more uniform and swollen, more similar to synthetic pads however the leather used seems of poor quality and does not seem like it will last long.

if so, is it possible to purchase the 2021 version, the one that my LCD-Xs mount, buying them directly from you?

Thank you
